We hope you can make it to this important action, to stand up for the Salish Sea and show solidarity with the water protectors at Standing Rock!
Don't miss this great event tonight! Dinner tickets are sold out, but there are still a few tickets available at the door for the Luke Wallace and BOUSADA concert!!!
From Ben Isitt: "This is totally preventable. People who love this coast can demand that the Government of Canada mandate immediately that the transport of oil and other dangerous goods between Washington State and Alaska be restricted to adequately powered and piloted tankers, travelling in offshore international waters. The owners of the Nathan E. Stewart and other American vessels have relied on an exemption to the Canada Shipping Act to traverse the Inside Passage, Johnst...one Strait and the Salish Sea with unpowered, unpiloted tanker-barges loaded with 10,000 tons of oil one third of the volume that was dumped by the Exxon Valdes in Prince William Sound. This travesty must stop, to protect the fragile coast and communities that rely on healthy marine ecosystems. Deliveries to BC coastal communities can be provided with smaller vessels, with stronger safety systems in place." See more
Learn about the movement to daylight urban waterways in Victoria and globally at this screening of the film "Lost Rivers." All welcome!
Turning the Tide paddlers have sampled more than a few choice varieties of apples in these forgotten orchards of the Gulf Islands... Looking forward to more in the Summer of 2017!!!
