Today we remember and honour all that sacrificed for us

Things feel hard right now. Things feel hard right now, and they are. These feelings are valid. It’s valid to feel frustrated, treated unfairly, sad, scared, angry, and so on. It’s also valid to feel content, supported, relieved and more. There is also real grief associated with moving through this pandemic. All the things we will miss out on and never get back, the loved ones lost, lost opportunities and relationships.... Emotions are not binary. We don’t feel either this way or that way. We can feel all the ways, and feel them all at once. We need to get clear about what it is we feel- all the things. Emotional granularity is one of the first steps in emotional regulation and health. No one develops resilience without struggle. And if the adults demonstrate this in healthy ways, we may raise one of the most resilient generations in a long time. It’s hard to see our kids struggle, feel sad, anxious and depressed at times. But boy will they be able to walk through life fiercely as adults if we can do that for them now. Learn healthy ways to cope. Learn emotional granularity. Learn to honour your grief. And if you need any help to learn, we are here, and fiercely ready to help.

What many of you don’t know about my wonderful colleague Erin, is that she has been working tirelessly on her Thesis for her Masters of Social Work program for the past few years. Recently, Erin completed her research thesis An Exploratory Study of the Collaborative Divorce Process From The Perspective of Collaborative Professionals. Erin has completed this lengthy ...process and impressed her panel of professionals across Canada with her well researched and presented paper. Congratulations Erin on the completion of your Masters. Now... on a personal note. What many of you don’t know is that Erin is not only brilliant she is also a kind, hardworking woman who not only managed to balance a research thesis, she did this while being a wife, a mother to her beautiful children, a loved member of her extended family, a loyal friend to her chosen circle. Erin also continued to work full time as a therapist in her company and always is consistent in her work, her values, sense of humour and to me as I have lovingly called her, my life partner. (Hahaha you couldn’t get away from that one Erin). Please help me celebrate Erin’s success in the completion of her Masters of Social Work and also the lovely soul that she is!! Seeing as we need to remember to have fun even during the tough stuff in life I wanted to share some of our Fun with you. I would like to call this behinds the scenes scare cam this is from a few weeks ago... what you don’t see is me trying desperately to unlock my phone with a Jason mask on, to scare Erin and not mis an opportunity...but you get the point enjoy your day and remember to laugh.
