Osama and his 11 year old student Nico took the phrase 'We've got an app for that' to a whole new level! Nico has wanted to learn how to code for a while now, though he and Osama have only been working together for a few months . This cookie tapping app marks Osama and Nico's very first collaboration! The image combines the onscreen appearance of the app with the computer code they wrote to create it. We certainly APPreciate their effort!
Nolan and Carolyn have worked together for 2 years now. Over this time their goals have morphed and changed in keeping with Nolans interests and accomplishments. When they started together, Nolan was working on recognizing letters of the alphabet. They moved through naming, sounding, and writing letters to sounding out and printing whole words. From letters they moved to numbers and money. Nolan now likes to practice grocery shopping and paying for items by counting out the correct coins. Carolyn also shares that Nolan works super hard, has a great sense of humour and is SUCH A PLEASURE to work with. Way to go, Nolan!
Kira and Sadie have been working together in French for a few months. Sadie is in grade 2 French Immersion and really likes the sea and stingrays and sharks, and also cooking and entertaining. She suggested translating and illustrating some of her moms recipes into a kid friendly french cookbook. Kira loved the idea, and we do, too! Right now shes working on a sugar cookie recipe, but we look forward to checking in with them later and posting the finished book when shes done:)

Art and language combine here to create a fun approach to learning English for one of our very young students! Helen loves to draw so she and her tutor, Annie, created their own word cards! This made connecting letters with sounds much faster and easier for Helen.
