Winnipeg University Prep & Mentorship Program for 1st & 2nd year university students The purpose of this program is to help new university students successfully navigate the transition to university. University can be daunting and intimidating for new students as it is. Considering the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitobas fall semesters will be completely online this year, the transition will be even more challenging and even somewhat isolating.... This program will allow students to build a network of peers mentors and a community of like minded fellow students with the same goals. This program takes on a holistic approach to help the students improve their executive functioning to succeed at the university level. Pillars of this program will include: - organizational skills - effective time management - balance & prioritization of classes, study schedules & other responsibilities or extracurriculars - focus & motivation - effective note taking - tips for studying smarter instead of harder Our program will assist university students throughout their entire semester into the winter exam period.

With school officially closing, keeping up with education is more important than ever. . . In accordance with social distancing precautions, tutoring sessions can begin online with a face to face, interactive whiteboard. .... . Why is now the perfect time to try TutorBright? . . 1. Each student is carefully matched to one tutor-mentor who is the right fit based on the academic expertise, personality and ability to meet the students goals. When children like who they are working with, they get so much more enjoyment out of the learning process. . . 2. When school reopens, students will still be expected to know their current grade level material for September. Our tutors can continue to work through the Canadian curriculum with your student, so your student is not affected by weeks of missed classroom instruction due to school closures. . . 3. Its impossible to control what our children do all day. If your student is spending countless hours on YouTube, Netflix and video games to keep themselves occupied, having the right tutor-mentor will help encourage ongoing learning, tutoring hour homework, engaged learning plans, and of course fun online tutoring sessions. . . 4. Children are hearing / seeing / feeling a lot of fear, which is causing incremental rises of stress and anxiety. Having a tutor-mentor can subdue this as we have your child focus of the positives as well as their academics. . . 5. This is possibly one of the easiest times to get your child caught up, or ahead in their academics. Students are still in the "learning mindset" (unlike summer and winter holidays). Considering school closures and pauses to extracurricular activities, students now have a surplus of time to address academic skill gaps. . . Visit www.tutorbright.com to find out more! See more

Tutoring tip! Tutoring is best when your student is as engaged as possible. Studies have shown that we rely heavily on our senses to process information when learning. Engaging more than one sense dramatically helps! Why? Because utilizing multiple senses allows more cognitive connections and associations to be made in the brain when learning a new concept or idea. As your student is working out a problem, do not sit in silence! Instead, have them do the work, show the wo...rk, and explain the work out loud! Always have your student walk you through exactly what they are doing, step by step. Doing so will ensure that your student actually understands the concept and question at hand. If they dont, you will pick it up and can steer them in the right direction. Click the video below in the comments!
