In September 2020 we participated in the Summer St Scramble in support of Summer St Industries. Summer Street is a non-profit support center and workshop for those with intellectual disabilities in Pictou County. Through leveraging our supplier relations, family and friends along with our own donation we were able to raise over $14,000 (57% more than the year before) for Summer Street. Looking forward to participating in 2021 and would like to thank everyone who submitted donations through our team.

Christmas Cutoff Notice- We are booking up fast for 2020 and so are our suppliers. Anyone looking for a home in 2020 will need to place an order before October 1st to ensure cabinets can be completed and delivered before the end of 2020. Our supplier Glenwood Kitchen Ltd, who makes an amazing cabinet is having an extremely busy summer and final orders for the year will need to be completed October 1st.

Tip of the week- Land Lease Communities can be affordable way to get into your first home. Your down payment required will be less as you only need a percentage of the cost of the home. If you were purchasing land you would need to have a percentage of the land ,well, septic (or municipal hookups) and driveway as well not to mention the upkeep of these items into the future and property taxes on the land and home. In a land lease you pay monthly lot rent to have your home ...on the land owned by a landlord. In most circumstances the landlord looks after paying for water bills, road maintenance, water and sewer lines/system maintenance, common area maintenance and property taxes on the land while the home owner is responsible to maintain the lot including lawn maintenance, home maintenance, property tax on the home itself and snow removal for their individual driveways. Tip of the week-Landscaping is an easy and simple way to create more curb appeal for your home. You don't need to spend thousands of dollars to do it either but it does need to be maintained and you should always check with your greenhouse of choice about how large shrubs or bushes get. If they become over grown it's hard to make them look good again and may do damage to your property. Removal in the end could be costly depending on the size of the trees/shrubs. We allow people to make their lot their own in our land lease communities with allowing landscaping and gardening. We encourage people to make their lot homey and welcoming.

Tip of the week- When going to finance your home, talk to us first. We know which lenders are actually interested in financing your new home and which mortgage specialist to see in each area. Some lenders are not interested in mini homes and try and charge a much higher interest rate (5-7% vs 2.5-3.5%) while others are very fair. So don't get discouraged if you ask your bank first, we will have an alternative for you.
