Twin Valley Farms has been hosting farm field trips for 9 years. We hosted 2 school from Calgary June 17-19, 2019 for our Science of Farming Field trip. We had a total of 300 students with 100 students visiting the farm each day. We feel that it is important that consumers learn where their food comes from and as producers, we have that opportunity to bring people close to their food source and give students a hands-on experience. We divide the students up into groups to ...attend different sessions to show them different aspects of farming. 1) Grains - taught by Amy Flitton & Beverly Smith 2) Farming Machinery - taught by Ryan and Troy 3) Irrigation - taught by Gary Flitton 4) Planting Sunflower Seeds - taught by Marie Schooten 5) Ag Technology and Soil - taught by Noel Flitton 6) Farm Animals - taught by Richelle Stirling 7) Hay Ride - driven by Simon from ATB and Henk Schooten Now here come the Thank You's!! 1) Cargill - thank you for sponsoring this event to make it happen and for sending volunteers to help out 2) Market Street Vulcan - thank you for providing apples for each of the students to have a snack on the bus ride home 3) UFA - thank you for providing the backpack cinch sacks, pencils, notepads, and tattoos 4) ATB - thank you for the water bottles for each goody bag and thank you to Simon from ATB for driving the tractor for the hay ride for 2 straight days! 5) Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out at each station. These stations couldn't have been possible without you. We’re pretty excited about our new tractor!!!

A very big thank you goes to Ben Loree with Crop Gun for doing a few flybys for us on Monday's field trip!! It was a huge highlight for the students! We didn't even ask Ben to come out, he just volunteered because that's what kind of guy he is....an outstanding one!!
