Unusually warm weather means ice conditions on ponds can change quickly and without warning, creating an extreme hidden hazard. Regina Fire & Protective Services reminds residents to stay away from all bodies of water, including Wascana Lake and creek, storm channels and retention ponds. Err on the side of caution. Residents should not walk, ski, skate or play on any body of water. Parents and guardians are asked to take a few moments to talk with children about this importan...t safety rule. Remember to keep dogs on a leash when close to bodies of water. If a pet breaks through the ice, do not attempt to rescue it as you will be putting yourself and others in danger. If you see anyone, particularly children, close to thin ice, call Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500. In an emergency involving people or pets, call 9-1-1. Sincerely, Randy Ryba, Fire Marshal Fire & Protective Services

Saskatchewan parents looking for a little help with their holiday shopping can find relief in Saskatchewan in motion’s Active Toy Guide. The popular virtual catalogue has arrived just in time to help parents put a few active toys under the tree this year. As COVID continues, we know it’s more and more difficult to keep kids moving. Having active toys and gear on hand can help a lot, says Marnie Forsberg, Manager of Saskatchewan in motion. Research shows that once they’re outside, kids move more, sit less and play longer and active toys help get them up and out.
