It’s been nearly two weeks since you’ve been gone, and ten months since you told me the horrible news. How awful those months must’ve been going through hell without being able to receive all the hugs you should’ve. You taught me how to be a boss. You showed me it’s possible to forgive even after the hurt had been so bad. You gave me the confidence to make a go of it on my own, and endless encouragement when I told you I wanted to leave the nest. You loved me, and I loved... you back. Our time together feels like a lifetime ago, it feels like yesterday. It wasn’t supposed to end this way. . I see you in my handwriting, in my notebooks filled with scribbles I see you in my perennials and in the cardinal at my window I’ll hold dear the things you made, the laughs we had together Your generosity was boundless, your gifts I’ll have forever A feather, a moth, a flickering light Silk and linen, Halloween fright Crowd of pets, bottles of wine Cold coffee, conjuring the divine Life is relentless you used to say You loved so freely, a home for every stray Now you’ll ride with me wherever I go Not just my footsteps in fresh laden snow . Rest easy Zee See more
