The Blokes have been keeping our heads down as the season starts to warm up. The last few years have given us a good sense of what varieties work in our microclimate and which ones do not. It feels good to rip the band aid off, replace the cider varieties that arent performing and plant more of the ones that are, including some new perry pear trees. The planting density of the orchard has been doubled and minus a handful of trees the orchard will be maxed out, which ...means its time to start thinking about a new orchard!! (Dont tell Bloke #2) Big thanks to our friends who travelled up to the country for some socially distant planting and helped turn a week long nightmare into a mere three day walk in the park. On that note, if youre looking for a socially distant outdoor activity we got 40 rows of fun lined up for you! Bamboo posts, tree guards, gravel, tree tying, limb tying!! Oh so much to be had! But seriously, hit me up if you want a day in the country lending a hand, we got a long season in front of us. Lunch, cider and good company included!

We are back from our self imposed social media isolation. The safety of our family and friends and understanding out how we can help in the fight comes before cider sales. As you may know we got a lot of projects on the go at the moment and the farm waits for no one! So we are back online, with the new cidery construction underway and socially distant orchard pruning on track. At the old Cidery we are shifting production assist with hand sanitizer production and will be ...supplying the base alcohol for distillation and processing. Its all we can do given our fermentation setup. We are excited to help and will post more once we get things moving. Lastly sales. As you may have guessed, we are dead in the water. Its alright given that we are doing other things, but if youre thirsty think of cider. Your assistance would be appreciated. As such, we are selling cider privately for the duration of the lockdown. Well be doing weekly deliveries to Toronto, Durham Region and Peterborough/Lindsay (delivery dates TBD). Send me a DM or text me at 416-834-4004 and we can provide you with pricing details. Got these handsome guys working in the barn at the moment helping to build a new fancy storage area for us. Luckily, when we disassembled the original grainery in 2014 we kept all the beautiful original wood. Now that material is going back into use as cladding for the new grainery. A much overdue and necessary upgrade for the barn.

The ability to meet with other cider makers near and far is a rare treat for us. Its even better when you strike up a friendship with makers from both near and far. Big thanks to the folks from Loch Nor Cider (ON), Bend Cider (OR), Yip Cider (NB), Left Field Cider (BC) and Dragons Head Cider (WA) for making us feel welcome and sharing your knowledge with us. Inspired, refreshed and looking forward to what 2020 has in store.
