Building trust takes time! Continuous positive deposits into the trust bank takes patience on the humans part We don’t know his past but I know his future! And it’s full of lots of yummy snacks, lots of choices, and tons more fetch ... Science tells us a lot about why aggressive behavior occurs with our dogs. Often, the human response is to just stop the behaviour we are seeing in front of us... immediately. We live in a world where we literally can make transactions with the touch of a button and marketing campaigns sell us on the idea of magical collars that solve challenges with our dogs without hurting them. This is problematic. Suppressing behaviour is not absolving behaviour, nor is it humane or fair to the animal. Once the general public has a better understanding of WHY and WHAT contributes to dogs that act with aggression we can work through this with them to make improvements. Your first step should be to understand body language. Our free Body Language course is found at bravodog.ca Recognizing lower level warnings will prevent escalations, bites and ultimately dogs lives.
