Happy holidays to you and yours! Hanukkah has already passed us by (hope you caught Jenny's latkes) and now Christmas is almost here. Other years we could have written a survival guide to the holidays with a newborn. Featuring tips like: use feeding your baby as an excuse to duck into a quiet room for some calm. Now we've entered the "Be careful what you wish for" category as busy family dinners are cancelled and aunt Nosy won't be there to tell you that your baby is cold. (I... guess there's always Zoom!) The holidays have been and will be different. Whatever you celebrate or don't celebrate, we are wishing your families moments of normalcy and gratitude amidst all of this. #happyholidays #bye2020

Now more than ever it's helpful to gather information about where you plan on having your baby. Knowing what to expect can eliminate many surprises and concerns at the end of pregnancy. As birth doulas we have clients in all of the different Montreal hospitals so we hear (and sometimes see) what is happening as people birth their babies and head home. In a fresh off the press kind of way. This is one of the many perks of our prenatal classes. #hotoffthepress #stayupdated #prenatalclass #montreal #pregnantduringthepandemic

Obviously I love hearing that our classes give people confidence but what really made my day was knowing that it started important conversations about birth and postpartum with their partner. Prenatal classes can be the first time that partners are brought into the fold, particularly during these times where they often can't attend prenatal visits or even ultrasounds. Partners may not even realize the questions they have until they are learning some of the basics and are give...n the space to ask them. The lists on the internet will have you debating car seats, strollers and the latest gear. I want people to see the importance of digging a little deeper when it comes to labor and the newborn days. And that having these conversations now will help you in your early days of parenthood. It's nice to be reminded that our classes are doing what we set out to do. #prenatalclasses #pregnancy

Nobody plans for their baby/babies to come early. There are many layers of emotions that can accompany having a premature baby and a NICU stay: fear, shock, gratitude, love, panic, pain, guilt, sadness, envy, astonishment, loss, loneliness, and even pride. And the journey continues past the hospital stay. ' . ' .... Parents who have sat with uncertainty for many hours beside isolettes, talking to their babies, amidst the wires and beeps, about the pets or siblings or grandparents that await them at home. Starring with fascination and love at those tiny fingers and toes. Finding room for all of their emotions and sorting out their next steps as parents. On World Prematurity Day we are thinking of and embracing all of the families whose lives have been touched by prematurity. There are so many stories, so many varied experiences. We are also thinking of those in the thick of it now. Picture: @badassmumsclub #nicu #nicuawareness #prematurebaby #worldprematurityday
