Oh my GAWD: I miss you all! So much. The universe keeps reminding me of that, and I’m an emotional mess whenever I see one of you out. I was legit SO LUCKY to form the relationships I did while being a hairstylist. Thank you for all of the memories. This has been a very difficult transition. I have something I’m working towards and I am excited... but I don’t want to ruin the surprise until I ace my exam. Spoiler alert: It is not a rickshaw driver or martial art...ist as someone has guessed. But nothing will ever take the place of how amazing I felt making other people feel good about themselves. So thankful to be in a small community and be able keep in touch. Thank you for the decade of laughs and friendships. I miss you all.

Guys, I got some bad news today. WCB has confirmed that due to my limitations with my wrist injury, I am unable to continue hairdressing. I’m heartbroken. This has been an amazing career, that has helped me meet so many amazing people. I loved that I could pour passion into it, and it made a big difference in someone’s day! ... Thank you to all of my loyal, rad clients. I will miss everyone of you and I SO wish this was different so I could at least thank you in person one last time. Much love you all and thank you for all of the memories!

Speaking of haircolour, my youngest found some Kevin Murphy hair chalk in the bottom of a drawer. I swear she’s going to be a talented stylist one day. I’m loving her colour placement!

We all have some roots showing now! I’m with you. The sunroof in my car shows them off beautifully for me in my rear view mirror. We’re all in this together... gray wisdom highlights and all! Let’s talk about colouring your hair at home: Box dye- it’s a one size fits all approach which means it’s a gamble. The companies can not show you what that colour will look like on your hair because it will be different on every head. Salon colour is formulated with so many thing...s in mind: hair density, natural remaining pigment, and porosity just to name a few. Colour application is an art that is so hard to do on your own! When haircolour is applied over top of previously coloured hair it gets darker and causes unnecessary damage. How can we hide our roots and avoid expensive hair colour corrections you ask? Hats, hair makeup (even matte eye shadow will work in a pinch) and headbands work! Bumble & Bumble sells a great spray in hair power that’s available at Em Salon and Spa. IF you’re bold and touch up your own roots, please have someone else in your home apply the colour for you, and apply it to small sections. Hope you’re all safe and healthy

Hey all you cool cats and kittens (Yup, still not old for me!) Again, I’m not promoting self hair cutting. There are a million and one reasons education and experience are needed to master hair cutting skills. Butttttttttt, if you’re like me the wait will probably kill you and you may do a few snips. We have deep conditioning and Olaplex treatments you can purchase at Em Salon and Spa by messaging the Salon via their Facebook page. These will help heal damage and moisturize your hair while you wait. I can help you find the right one if you need. If you’re trimming your own fringe, nail scissors are great - you don’t cut too much at once and cut with texture. Try to trim slightly upward to soften the bottom of them. Some of those curtain bangs we’ve been doing should survive this beautifully. Oh.... and I heard chatter that hair should be an essential service which I would like to address: we’re taking a pause for your, your parents.... your kids health/life! It would be so difficult to ensure you had a medically sanitary environment, let alone how close we have to be during the visit. Short term pain for long term gain! We got this! Hair is important - it feels good to look good! Doesn’t matter how vain you are.... or aren’t. And really, I’m sure we’d all like to feel a little bit better right now! I will not judge you lovely people’s choices on the other side of this! I’m planning my post apocalyptic look to have a Mohawk!! At the very least this break is great for my wrist which is still an issue. Stay safe and healthy!

I do NOT suggest self cutting your own hair, but I’ve had a few ladies ask how. Here. Leave it with you to self mutilate or not! I will be shocked if I see a short hair cutting video. Short haircuts are a lot more complex. Remember, we’re all in this together.... looking shaggy with split ends. Oh, and learn from my mistakes - never attempt self haircuts after wine. ... I have some bad news: my injury has returned and the Dr has put me on leave again until March 20. I’ve been here before, and truly hope I will be back March 20th this time. I will keep everyone posted as I know. Unfortunately, I’m leaving the girls at work very short staffed. They’re going to be working as hard as possible to accommodate everyone. I’m easing back into a regular work schedule.... starting this Monday! I’m looking for people with flexible schedules who would like to book in with me over the next month. Something I’ve learned so far, is that healing can be an unpredictable process so I really hope I can keep on our goal timeline. Thank you so much to everyone for being patient. This has been a really difficult time for me and your loyalty and understanding has meant the world.

Im still working hard at healing. What a slow process!! I’ve started a Monday- Friday return to work rehab program. There is a hand specialist, occupational therapist and physiotherapist all on staff to get me back better than new condition. My hands are in good hands! Can’t wait to get back behind the chair. I miss everyone!

Bad news today: the Dr updated my time off to approximately September 9th. I think we finally have a diagnosis of Repetitive Strain Injury. WCB assures me they’ll offer me whatever form of rehab to get me back to work ASAP. I’m so sorry to my clients and coworkers. This is going to be tough to reschedule and I do appreciate your patience, kind words and support through it all. I miss everybody!

I’m going to have ask some patience from all you lovely people. As of yesterday, the dr has put me off of work for at least two weeks due to a medical issue. Em salon is doing their very best to accommodate my booked appointments into already busy schedules. I SO appreciate your patience with us through this time, and greatly value your loyalty as clients. I love what I do and it’s because of everyone who sits in my hairchair. This is going to be tough for me as well. Big shout out to my amazing team at Em. You ladies are the best!
