Eric Jeffreys is a Prince George resident who has revived a truly ancient skill to produce some of the most beautiful, intriguing, glass knives. Using a technique referred to as flint knapping, Eric carefully shapes each blade by hand from a kind of stone called obsidian, which is actually a kind of glass formed when volcanic lava cools quickly. Obsidian, also called simply volcanic glass can produce extremely sharp blades, sharper than razor blades or surgical instrumen...ts, but obsidian is also very fragile and can be easily broken if mishandled. These knives are decorative only, and come with hand-made handles and stands for display for VERY reasonable prices. For more information on Eric and his accomplishments, please read this article written about him in the Western Canada Knife Association’s April 2020 publication. http://wcka.org/ http://wcka.org//up/2020/07/WCKA-NEWSLETTER-April-2020.pdf
