HAPPY NEW YEAR! . We want to wish everyone a Happy New Year as we look forward to 2021! . When it comes to 2020, most people would say how hard/bad/challenging of a year it was. However, just like in hockey, facing adversity and finding strategies to overcome it is the blueprint for success!... . In reflection of this past year, there are a few key attributes we focused on to overcome these obstacles: . 1 Positivity - with so much disruption in everyday operations, it was easy to develop a negative/pessimistic mindset. Staying positive, on the ice and in life will ultimately lead you to a happier and more successful outcome! . 2 Perseverance - we cannot see our true character without tough moments and adversity. The relentless attitude to overcome these challenges and keep grinding in a valuable skill in hockey and life! . 3 Appreciation - although the pandemic made things extremely different then we were used to, reflecting and appreciating the moments it gave us is important. More quality time with family, realizing the value of social interaction, cherishing our time at the rink: these were all things to remember in 2021! . 4 Adaptation - when life gets flipped upside down, we need to adapt. Changing our existing programs, creating new programs and altering our delivery methods allowed us to continue to provide our students with the quality hockey program they have come to expect! . Overall, 2020 was a year of learning and growth, and we are happy to have met these challenges and overcome them! . Thank you to all of our community partners that have helped make this year so successful, and most of all, thank you to our Two Way family! REMEMBRANCE DAY . Remembrance Day is an important day for most, but this day has a special place in the heart of Coach Greg. . Both of my grandparents fought in WWII, and I can remember hearing stories about the war and imprisonment from them as a child. I didn’t really understand these tales as a child, but they only became more surreal as a grew older and learned more about the true devastation and the toll of war. In 2012, while playing pro hockey in Europe, I had the opp...ortunity to visit Ypres, Belgium, which was a key battleground for World War I, and is now home to an amazing war museum. Visiting this museum, Canadian War monuments, Tynecot cemetery and the trenches soldiers called home for years during the war was eye opening. It truly made me appreciate the sacrifice our country and its soldiers made so that we could live the lives we have today. It also showed me how respected Canadian soldiers were during the war, having a reputation of tenacity, strength and determination. Thank you to everyone, including my grandparents Joseph and Wannes, who fought then and to everyone who continues to keep us safe today. Lest we forget! . #remembranceday See more
