Hey everyone! I hope you're enjoying summer! If you haven't done something summery yet... try to! You won't regret making the time! Health care tip: try to learn/teach your little one a vocabulary of health. I'm amazed how many adults I see that can't explain more than "it hurts". Is it sharp, dull, crampy, itchy, hot, pressure, tearing, constant, intermittent etc... it helps us help you! Ok, back to work...

Now that summer has finally kicked in, skin exposure to sun increases! While I love and need the vitamin D, it's easy to overdo it. When that happens, remember to increase your (or your little one's) fluid intake. Hydration also plays a huge role in treating headaches. So many times, people come to emergency and the headache is gone with just fluids... drink up people! Enjoy the weather! Next Wheezers class will be late Sept (unless you organize your own group)

Wheezers, Fevers, Pukers & Poopers! (In case you are considering signing up for the June 17th class, Here is feedback from the June 4th group) -A good amount of information about what childhood disease we can expect and what to do when encountered- (not signed)... -Great info, very helpful. I feel more comfortable with home treatments and may not rush to emergency for things that can be managed at home- Sondra P -The content of the talk was great. It’s given me the confidence to handle whatever is thrown at me in the future. Thank you! - Marina -This course was very useful for helping me feel prepared for issues that come up frequently, and that I felt prepared for, but while in the moment often don’t know what to do. I feel more empowered to care for my little one! - Meghan -Lots of interesting information and useful suggestions. Would definitely recommend to new parents (Moms AND Dads) with babies around 6 months- CP -Good information around medication, including when to give and what. Also found information around hydration when sick (esp vomiting) helpful. I like the personal examples related to the different topics- M.S.

Tyke talks has it from Randy Bachman, (who admits to many broken resolutions and behaviors), that is takes 3 weeks (!) to break or start a change in behavior... so if you've made a mental commitment, then stick at....! 3 weeks.... The nurse adds... you then begin a different stage of change. The home owner adds....maintenance sucks! ... The fitness guy to the rich and famous in the Straight this week says .... I'm guilting of thinking its mainly bookshelves and tall things that need securing.... kids can wreak havoc with anything! A webbed strap or L bracket is all it takes. Keep watching though....children CAN be Superheros!

Besides 3 classes this week I've been visiting with a close friends' family newborn! It's so easy to forget all the naivete that comes with being a new parent, but so sweet to observe! Did you have any "aha!" moments where things just clicked when you figured something out?! I remember how greAt it was to realize that I could tweak the diaper between my fingers without undressing her to see if she was wet! Eureka!! Lol!

So I've said that I would teach this course for free if I weren't paying rent and childcare... So let me put my money where my mouth is and say that THE NEXT 5 people that Post and confirm they can come tomorrow morning at 9am may come for free. Nada. Not one penny.....
