Where are we? Cranbrook! I feel like the busy season for photographers can become so overwhelming and easy to feel burnt out. We decided to end our busy season capturing love in Banff and Cranbrook, getting to fly in a helicopter for a photo shoot, explore mountains and capture love! - We will be staying with some friends for a few days here to focus souly on edit catch up and forced breaks ... - Please except a delay in replies while we enjoy a few days off work and if anyone is wanting photos in the area let us know! It's that time of year already?! Okay I've asked and you guys came in strong wanting Christmas minis! Same set up as last year! As requested, these will be extra mini sessions at only 10min. I highly recommend a full session if you want to take your time, get comfortable and have a variety, but we can also power through two set ups with up to 25 images in 10min

Things we've learnt since running a business and learning from some of the best business minds around the world. Be kind to small businesses, I used to go to a local store or small business and wonder why they would charge so much, or see someone bash a small business online and think it sure wasn't nice but I am sure the business won't take a hit, or how they could afford to take 3 hours to reply to a message when they were "just a small business" Our mindset has done such... a 180! I am so sorry for ever thinking that way. I have never had more respect, patients and understanding for other people in business. Anytime I see an entrepreneur having a hard day I want to run up and hug them and tell them its one bad moment, one rude person, for a lifetime of joy and grateful clients. Tell them its okay to not make everyone happy, but to always do your best no matter what. We work 3x harder than we ever did working under someone, and we don't make 3x as much. Now don't get me wrong, we have some crazy dreams and things will change as we learn to work smarter vs harder. However, this is your daily reminder a small business is a family choosing to give 100% when they don't want to, who puts in 12 hrs instead of 8, and whose main goal is to make their clients happy over making a few extra dollars :) So leave that nice review, don't snap if you disagree, pay for that $40 homemade decor over the $30 one at Walmart, and please stop treating them like they aren't a business. If you wouldn't go up to a clothing store and say "I know it says $100 and no refunds but I'll give you $50 and if I don't like it I want my money back" lol, then don't say it to that small business owner starting her Etsy shop or providing a service. So, if you have read this far, leave a review at that local coffee shop, tip your stylist, leave a sweet message for the girl who made your baby a custom dress, take a moment out of your day to brighten theirs, because I sure know they work hard and sacrifice lots to always put you first and put a smile on your face :) Happy Small Business Week <3

I am so excited for all the beautiful weddings we have booked in southern BC next year - But photographers, please read this. Destination weddings are incredible, they are fun and new for sure! However, most likely they will pay the very least of your travel and hotel on top of your package, but you are now adding at least 3 extra days of work that could be split between other weddings that weekend, or editing. You are putting 100% of your focus on finding new locations, tr...aveling and maybe feeling jet legged, to pull a full day wedding to then travel back home. It is not easy. It is the hardest weddings we have had. They take way more time and work and they are giving me so much more respect to the destination photographers that work full time traveling. - Now would I change that? Nope! It is so worth the exhaustion and work, it is such an honour to travel with your couple and see new places. It is something we still are considering pushing to be more of our focus, however, this season of Covid and local weddings has been such a treat as well. To wake up in your own bed to drive that morning to the wedding is so amazing! To find the beauty in your own home town is a challenge I love doing so much! - So i guess im trying to say, don't be comparing the photographer who is travelling to yourself. This year has been busier than ever!! I have up to two shoots per day, and more weddings than we ever expect for the covid season! I have honestly barely posted any sneak peeks of any of the family, portrait etc photoshoots as I am working hard bts to edit and delivery these guys to you all <3 I can't wait for everyone to see their galleries! Now to this family, the first family I ever photographed, when their third boy was still cooking in mom's belly. Thank you guys for coming to me, year and year again. I love seeing the progression from weirdly lit indoor photos on a point and shoot to all the fun warm family photos with all 4 of your beautiful kids!

My Gallery Delivery Platform has added a new feature that I love!!! It costs me a pretty penny per month to store people's galleries so I have set an expiration date for them, for most people who use their galleries within the first 6/12 months this is more than enough time. However some people want to have this back up to look back on at any time, so my platform is now offering to hold galleries for my clients after I expire them, so then you have to pay just a small portion of the regular fee to have them back it up each year. I love this and tried to implement it yesterday, along with a discount code for past clients as it was thanksgiving. I have noticed this has not sent properly to some people and I am sorry if you just received a bunch of emails <3 Working on perfecting it today :) !

Happy Thanksgiving! - This weekend we had the pleasure of shooting two elements and spending time focusing on what we are thankful for. - It might be cheesy but I truly love the act of verbally sharing what you are thankful for, so I want to do it on this post too!
