The University of Alberta Museums unit includes people who are passionate about the conservation of museum objects! For #AskAConservator Day, Jenn and Alyssa have given their thoughts about their work in conservation! Q: What's your favourite part about conservation work? Jenn: Working hands-on with museum objects and seeing the direct impact of our decisions and actions. Conservation involves meticulous details and big-picture thinking. The work to protect objects for curr...ent and future generations of researchers and students is endlessly fascinating! Alyssa: I love how interdisciplinary conservation can be. I first decided to study textile conservation in the Department of Human Ecology because it combined both of my interests in art and science. I find working with UAlberta Museums collections fascinating because of how diverse they are.
