Hi Everyone, I wanted to share this here in case anyone doesn't follow the main UBC Dance Club page or did not have a chance to read the post. We did unfortunately have to take the steps to cancel Gala ball again this year. This is due to the many restrictions still in place, as well as the decision of Dance club itself not to run classes in this second semester. I know this will be disheartening to hear as I too wanted to be able to dance this year. However, things seem to ...be brightening up and hopefully, we will be able to Run Gala next year. Hello everyone, It is with our deepest regrets that we must inform you that we will be cancelling the UBC Gala Ball this year. We have contacted public health officials and consulted with community members, and we can not in good conscience run Gala if it would create a setting of increased risk of illness. Our decision is out of an abundance of caution for the community, their family, and friends. As dancers, we understand the amount of time, effort, and finances that go i...nto preparing for competitions, and we can not apologize enough for any losses that may have been incurred through our cancellation. However, we believe that one of the most important things is for the community to take care of their health, because as dancers, our bodies are what allow us to continue doing what we love. With the recent announcement of the global illness becoming a pandemic, we strongly advise you to stay informed and to take the necessary precautions as according to health guidelines recommended by public health officials. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we understand that many of you are disappointed with this announcement. However, we would appreciate your full cooperation to ensure that our community remains healthy and safe. We thank you for your consideration and hope to see you all next year.
