hello everyone! As Christmas is approaching, FSA is hosting a Parol Making Contest! What is a Parol you may ask? A Parol is a traditional Filipino 5 pointed ...star-shaped Christmas lantern that represents the star that the three wise men followed to the nativity of Jesus. Traditionally, the Parol is made out of bamboo sticks and coloured Japanese paper with a lighted candle inside of it. These days, the Parol now accommodates more intricate geometric patterns and the candle is usually replaced with a lightbulb. We would love to see your very own versions of the Parol (get creative)!! Once you’re done creating your Parol, just slide through our DM’s and send us a picture of your best and most creative work with your name on it too! You have until December 4th to send us your submissions and the winners will be voted by our followers AKA you guys on December 5th! First place will win a $40 gift card and second place will win a $20 gift card! Gift cards are sponsored by IPS! From now until December 4th, we’ll be showing you steps on how to make a Parol and many more Filipino Christmas facts/traditions to get you guys in the Christmas spirit!
