There are a lot of common misconceptions about people experiencing homelessness! Understanding these myths is a helpful step in getting a fuller understanding about issues that contribute to homelessness. With this knowledge and by listening to the stories of unhoused people, we can better learn how to combat these problems! #unhoused #WarmthOfWinter

Once upon a time, we were all just smiling babies bouncing on someone's lap. We implore you to remember this when looking at people going through challenges in their lives and use an empathetic eye. How do you remind yourself to be empathetic? (this picture was taken pre-covid-19, hence the lack of masks )

Although we can’t do our typical Warmth of Winter events, we’re still constantly pushing ourselves to learn more about people experiencing homelessness and combat some of the systemic issues that contribute to people becoming unhoused. Part of how we can all help is by using people-first language when talking about these issues! Please note, people first language is a guide not a rule! Try to mirror the language someone uses to describe themselves, or ask them for their preference! #PeopleFirstLanguage #PeopleExperiencingHomelessness #unhoused #WarmthOfWinter #UBCHope #WoW
