SASC CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE After careful consideration and following UBC’s announcement to work remotely and transfer all classes online, the AMS Studen...t Nest will be closing from tomorrow March 17th until April 14th. As such, the AMS SASC’s in-person services and events will be temporarily suspended until April 15th. At that time, we will re-evaluate based on information available from UBC, Vancouver Coastal Health, and the BC Centre for Disease control. We will continue to be on-call for crisis support and will offer scheduled appointments over the phone with survivors during the temporary closure. We are working with our partners at the BC Women’s Hospital to determine if there may be service interruptions to the Sexual Assault Services at UBC’s Urgent Care Centre. In the meantime, please continue to call the SASC if you are interested in accessing the Sexual Assault Services and hospital accompaniment. To access on-call support or phone appointments please call us at 604-827-5180 or email [email protected]. We will continue to be available Monday-Friday from 8am-10pm and Saturday & Sunday 11am-7pm. The health, safety and well-being of the communities we serve and our staff and volunteers are of the utmost importance to us at the AMS SASC. We understand the essential nature of services such as hospital accompaniment for Sexual Assault Services at the UBC Urgent Care Centre, safety planning and crisis support, as well as the important role that our services and drop in centre play in alleviating the isolation that many affected by sexualized violence experience. We also recognize that this virus affects people with serious chronic medical conditions, people who are immunocompromised and older folx and that we must all do our part to implement community-based measures, such as social distancing, to help slow the spread of the disease. As we collectively navigate COVID-19 and its impact on our communities, we encourage folx to focus on both individual and community care by: Stay connected with your community via phone and virtual gatherings. Contact the SASC for support or information on how to join our support group, Roots and Resilience, which will continue virtually during the closure Check in on the chronically ill, immunocompromised and older folx in your life. If you are well and able to provide support, ask if they have the supplies, groceries and medication they need Call out xenophobia and anti-Asian racism in your communities and stand in solidarity with Chinatown businesses and others facing increased discrimination If you have questions about or would like to access the SASC’s support services, please contact us at 604 827 5180 or [email protected]. Important update from the SASC:

UBC Women's Centre 12.06.2020

ANNOUNCEMENT: In light of recent news surrounding COVID-19, the Women's Centre has made the decision to suspend our regular services for the time being. Due to the nature of the situation, we have decided to cancel all remaining events for the term, as well as our Divacups & Lunapads office hours. We are also trying to restock resources as often as we can, but we anticipate being unable to do so on a regular basis.... The space will still be open for use so long as the Nest is operating, however we discourage any folks who feel sick from using the space and encourage them to follow Canadian Health guidelines. If you are using the space, please remain cognizant of the importance of social distancing. We have members who are/live with folks that are immunocompromised, young, elderly, and with pre-existing health conditions. This greatly informs our decision, as well as our priority to maintain the health and safety of our community. We apologize for the inconvenience that this can cause for folks who share the space and rely on our resources. During this time of uncertainty, we thank you for your understanding and cooperation and will keep you informed if anything changes. For the time being, we wish everyone a happy and healthy remainder of the term. Take care, UBC Women's Centre _____ If you have any questions or concerns please contact us via email at: [email protected]
