SPEAKER PROFILE Katie Macleod Growing up in Calgary, Katie took part in as many sports as she could. Following her graduation from SAIT in 2012 with a diploma in Broadcast Journalism, Katie pursued her passion for sports and landed a job in media relations at Spruce Meadows, followed by reporting for Global News in the traffic helicopter, before settling at her dream job at Hockey Canada. As a media relations coordinator, Katie acts as a liaison between media and the organi...zation, teams and athletes. Working closely with several national teams, Katie has been able to experience several world championships and develop many relationships within the hockey industry. It is great to have someone on the panel who deals with many different groups of people in the sports industry on a daily basis. We are super excited to hear the insights Katie has to offer! SPEAKER PROFILE Torie Peterson Torie manages the digital and social media platforms for the Calgary Flames. Starting out with the team as a practicum student in 2007, her role has evolved. She originally created editorial content, then moved on to starting the club’s social media channels, and finally she is now managing the team’s platforms and media strategy. Torie is a proud SAIT (Journalism) and University of Calgary (Bachelor of Communications) alumnus.... MEDIATOR PROFILE Dustin Edwards Dustin is currently the business manager for the Drumheller Dragons. He has a strong passion for hockey and the community. He is responsible for off-ice operations including: marketing and advertising, ticketing, sponsorship and fundraising, community relations and fan experience for the Dragons. Dustin is now in his second season with the Dragons, and the team seen increases in ticket sales, revenues, and social media traffic since his sta...rt. The Big Valley, AB native has a diploma in Radio and Television Communications from Western Academy Broadcasting College in Saskatoon, and is also a professional announcer for the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, PBR Canada, and Bull Riders Canada. He has worked numerous Canadian Finals Rodeo broadcasts and also works media for the Calgary Stampede. This is Dustin's 3rd year mediating for us, and we are so glad he has decided to return. KEYNOTE SPEAKER PROFILE Mike Moore Mike Moore is the Vice President and Alternate Governor of the Calgary Hitmen and Vice President and Governor of the Calgary Roughnecks. Moore graduated from the University of Calgary in 1987 with a Political Science Major and English Minor. He spent the next 8 years coaching and scouting hockey while working in the Calgary area including the role of Owner Operator of a small commercial paint company. He returned to the University ...of Calgary and graduated with an MBA in 1997. Moore is in his 23rd season in the Western Hockey League and 13th with the Calgary Hitmen. His tenure with the franchise began with a one-year term as Assistant General Manager in 1997-98. He then served as General Manager of the Kamloops Blazers for six seasons (1998-2004) and Medicine Hat Tigers for one season (2004-05) before spending three seasons as Director of Athletics with Edge School (2005-08). He returned to the Hitmen for the 2008-09 season as Director of Business Operations before adding the title of Assistant General Manager in 2012. Moore moved to the role of General Manager and Vice President of Business Operations in 2013 and was then promoted to Vice President and Alternate Governor in 2017. During his Hitmen tenure, Moore has received a pair of WHL recognitions: Marketing/Public Relations Award in 2010-11 and Eastern Conference nominee for the Lloyd Saunders Memorial trophy as WHL Executive of the Year in 2013-14. With the Roughnecks Moore was the Director of Business Operations for the initial two years of operations when they were acquired by the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation in 2011. He left the Roughnecks in 2013 to focus his attention on the Hitmen prior to returning to the Roughnecks in the 2017-18 season. He was part of the Roughnecks National Lacrosse League Championship team in 2019. We are very happy to have Mike presenting valuable advice about the intersection of sports and business.
