Ugly Apple Cider and Wines 23.11.2020

This photo was taken on Thanksgiving weekend last year, and what a difference one year can make! Last year the trees were still loaded with fruit at Thanksgiving and this year they are bare. A lot can change in a year (like a pandemic) and as Forrest Gump said life really is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. This is very much like our little cider adventure"s philosophy and we are thankful for so much this year! . . . .... . #ontariocraftcider #wildcider #wildapples #lanarkcounty #comewander #discoveron #cider #thankful See more

This is a great article that really describes the type of cider we make here at Ugly Apple. No, we are not making the type of cider you will find in the LCBO but we believe we are making cider as it should be made, and is still made in other parts of the world. We drove down to the Finger Lakes region in New York a few years ago and tried some of the ciders similar to ours and realized we were making a product that was ahead of (and in some ways behind) its time. Read about what cider should be like and why a natural cider is best (hint: it's a living product made with local yeasts). https://www.bonappetit.com/s/naturally-fermented-hard-cider

A great article about Lanark County that mentions our humble little cidery! Lots of great businesses mentioned here, including Serendipity Alpacas and Llamas Farm and Sanctuary, Willaway Farm, Dairy Distillery and Hummingbird Chocolate Maker. Thanks to Lanark County Tourism for arranging for the visit from travel writer Ian Shantz and his lovely wife. https://torontosun.com//sweet-escape-catch-your-breath-in-

It's been a long time to wait for a new batch of cider but we're finally there! We have two new ciders to share with you - Forbes' Log Cabin Scrumpy, made with apples harvested from one of the original settler cabins in Lanark County, and a new batch of El Escanciador, our award-winning cider made with Lanark Greening apples. Remember, we are a micro-cidery, which means when we sell out, there's no more for another year! :) http://uglyapple.ca/our-cider/
