United Irish Societies of Montreal 31.01.2021

2021 - Parade Cancellation With a heavy heart and careful consideration, the United Irish Societies of Montreal Executive Committee (Organizers of the Montreal St-Patrick Parade) has cancelled the 2021 St. Patrick’s Parade scheduled for March 14th, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, the health and safety of the Montreal community is our greatest priority. We must act in the best interest and well-being of all organizers, volunteers, participants, and spectators.... Though we are disappointed to announce the cancellation, we will monitor the situation. If public safety rules allow large gatherings at any point in 2021, we reserve the right to hold the parade on an alternate date. Montreal's St Patrick's Parade has been held since 1824 and the United Irish Societies have had the honour of hosting it since 1929. There is a responsibility to our members, community, history and ensure the continuity of this event and we take this responsibility very seriously. We thank our members, sister societies, and partners for their support and understanding and we wish you all a Happy St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th, 2021. We learned today that Alouettes de Montréal legend John Bowman's time with the team is over. Here he is in 2012 at a VERY warm #MTLSTPaddys Parade. We hope we'll see him around town when it's safe to be around each other around town.

Time is running out to Donate to the United Irish Societies Christmas basket Fund and Raffle. The drawing will take place on Sunday November 22nd, 2020. Now more than ever the UIS Christmas Baskets program will be needed by many individuals and families less fortunate. No Raffle tickets will be sold this year, instead the UIS is accepting cash donations to purchase Grocery gift cards and gifts for families. Please read the note attached by Cathy Doyle for details on how to donate. Many thanks in advance to all of you and Cathy and her volunteers for making this happen.
