Today, we remember the women of École Polytechnique. On December 6, 1989, 14 young female engineering students were callously murdered simply because of their g...ender. The anniversary of the École Polytechnique massacre is a reminder of the work our society and post-secondary institutions must continue to ensure greater equality for all citizens. The University of Lethbridge is striving to reach the specific goal of an environment that is equitable, diverse and inclusive for the benefit of all community members. However, the anniversary of the Montreal massacre is a reminder that in addition to taking these steps forward, we must be vigilant in condemning actions promoting hatred and creating barriers for marginalized populations. This is an issue of great importance for all members of the U of L community. Today, we remember the victims of that terrible day and reflect on the actions we must continue to undertake to build a society that is fair, safe and without hate. Mike Mahon, PhD President and Vice-Chancellor
Celebrate this holiday season in the new old-fashioned way with the uLethbridge Holiday Card Exchange! Alumni, students, faculty and staff are invited to write ...a card that shares a favourite festive memory, a yummy recipe or some words of holiday cheer with other members of the uLethbridge family. Here’s how it works: 1. Register to participate in the mail or email card exchange here: https://uleth.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_badgLmy76wMCNTf 2. On December 11, you will be paired with your pen pal. This is when you will receive the info you need to send them a card. 3. Write a thoughtful card for your pen pal and be sure to send it their way before the Holiday Rush (Canada Post recommends sending regional mail by December 15-17) 4. Check your mailbox (or check it twice ) and wait for your card to arrive! Register before December 10 to participate! https://uleth.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_badgLmy76wMCNTf
