What’s your excuse?! Here we have a single mother who has been a client since October/2018. She’s dedicated herself to a change. That change being a healthy mind and body. She has two incredible kids who are both excelling in life and in school.... These well adjusted children are a breath of fresh air when we see them and always treat my younger children with love and compassion. So what’s your excuse? Do you provide for two children all by yourself? Do you work full time and are still raising top notch children? Do you claim you just do not have the time? Well Jody calls your bullshit!! If you are sick of making excuses you have no right to make, send us a DM or drop us an email at: [email protected] Continued comments

It’s been a great run! After 12 full years in business, we will be closing our doors October 31st. Our reason is an unfortunate one. Insurance could not be obtained for our tanning section any longer. We have been extremely blessed to be able to service red deer for the last 12 years and want to inform ALL of our past patrons that we appreciate you choosing to frequent our establishment. It’s a bitter / sweet feeling knowing that at the end of the month we will no longer ha...ve this brick and mortar business, however we plan to expand this page and our online presence in the online market of health and fitness. There will be new spots coming available soon for clients looking to get healthy ahead of the holiday season and we look forward to helping even more people in the upcoming new year. So please, make sure to stop in over the month, use up all tanning mins, check out our daily increasing sales prices on literally everything inside the store (tanning beds, supplements, lotions, hair products, hair stands, sinks, washer, dryer, you name it, it’s for sale). Thank you Red Deer See more

Summertime! The time where every one would love to be presenting their best body for their bikini or shorts. Unfortunately, most people let the winter fluff sit a little too long, now in a panic, everyone suddenly wants to drop all their carbohydrates to get their body ready for summer as quickly as possible. Dropping your carbohydrates will result in a drop on the scale, some tightening up, maybe some looser fitting clothes, this is however a poor approach to obtaining that ...summer bod. What you are losing is muscle/live glycogen, water, sodium, nutrients and long-term cases, muscle tissue. And yes insulin (an unbiased storage hormone) can still be secreted without carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are labelled as nonessential (you can live without them), well this is because your body has certain pathways (i.e. pentose pathway) that can convert other nutrients into what is needed to run biological processes. Great right? Unfortunately to do this, it requires several more stress hormones and micronutrients which can put quite the burden on one’s body. Carbohydrates are a very readily available source of energy for all cells to use, mainly the brain, the brain will always require carbohydrates. Some important biological process that carbs are required for are the following: DNA repair, cellular replication, formation of Glutathione (one of the body’s important detoxifiers) and other antioxidants. With insufficient carbohydrates, the body will begin to suffer a great burden resulting in the lack of ability to turn over cells, repair DNA and a significant drop in Glutathione. Now let’s talk performance and liver health. Carbs are stored in the muscle and liver as glycogen which is the most readily available source of energy for the muscles. They need to be able to respond as fast as possible when needed and if there is lack of glycogen stores, the liver will have to work over time to supply fuel for the muscles. This results in depleting the liver of glycogen at a fast pace, once glycogen is depleted, a higher stress response is required for the liver to create energy from amino acids (protein). This is much harder not only on the liver but the body’s other systems as well, resulting in loss of several nutrients and an increase in inflammation and potential cortisol resistance (in extreme cases, adrenal fatigue). Carbohydrates are not the enemy, how we use them, the forms we eat them in, our lifestyles, sleep, digestion and our training/exercise are the culprit.
