Quick walk outside to grab a bit of one of the few clear skies in a while. With the moon light, northern lights are more faded but the landscape can be fully exposed. Shot near Kugluktuk, Nunavut.

Nice break in the clouds last night but short so time to go in and read

The sun is now back above the horizon around Kugluktuk, Nunavut. This was around noon and the ice fog helped exposing the scene, giving a magical feel to the shot.

I got this beautiful knife from my wife for Christmas. It was custom made locally by Myles Pedersen (Kugluktuk). I thought it would be a perfect prop to practice filming and editing a commercial. I also took a shot at playing the guitar for the music. All quickly done this afternoon. Resolution was lowered for upload. https://vimeo.com/501336043

The first episode (Cold) of the Wild Canadian Weather series will air on CBC, The Nature of Things on Friday, January 15, 2021 (time may vary depending on your location - look for The Nature of Things on CBC on Friday) https://www.cbc.ca/natureofthi//wild-canadian-weather-cold Kugluktuk is part of the Cold as I was privileged to be one of the cinematographers on this episode. It includes some family moments with Allen and Grace Niptanatiak and some of their kids and grand-kids. Since the filming, my mother-in-law, Grace, passed away and, while it won’t fill the void her passing left, this will be a glimpse of her love and dedication to her kids, grand-kids, and actually anyone who was blessed to enter her home (or her tent).
