Have you ever heard of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)??!!! The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing. AND you can have an impact too! A project named, SDGs Campus Forum, in collaboration with the UNBC Prince George Public Interest Research Group (PGPIRG), will be hosting officials from the United Nations and the Foundation for Environmental Stewardship, in the first UNBC SDGs training eve...nt. Realizing a critical link between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) attainment and youth participation, and the roles of academic institutions in filling missing gaps, the forum, beyond theoretical frameworks, is aimed to address gaps in awareness and understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), inspire tangible local actions on the SDGs, mobilize collaborations for local implementation across our community settings, and ultimately advance the UNBC Sustainability Agenda. The event is slated to hold on Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 9am to 4.30pm (with coffee and lunch break), and will bring together students from UNBC and selected high schools in Prince George as well as faculty and community members. They are seeking volunteers from across all the student groups on UNBC campus. Volunteers are needed in the following capacities: - Event Promotion, planning and logistics - Participants Registration and Pre-training sessions coordination - Break-out sessions coordination - Post-training Follow-up sessions to make SDGs impact on UNBC campus - Post-training Action Projects and groups coordination - Student representatives to meet and greet with presenters and the UN officials Intending volunteers can register via this link: https://forms.gle/28AxSyJmN49AnYnB9 If you need any additional details, kindly contact Arctica Cunningham - Director, PGPIRG via [email protected] or Christiana Onabola - PhD Health Sciences via [email protected]

Hello Debaters! We hope that you are all doing well, and are surviving the pre-break midterm season! We have postponed meetings to until after the reading break. We will be having TWO sessions, only ONE of which you need to attend, as the same material will be covered:... -Monday February 25th @ 7:30 - 8:30 pm -(7-150) -Thursday February 28th @ 4:30 - 5:30 pm - (7-158) *Please email us at [email protected] to RSVP for either session.* We have decided to teach everyone the Canadian National (CN) style, and then we also want to introduce everyone to British Parliamentary. We will be debating in CN for the rest of the semester and starting BP in the fall. We hope to continue to have Mondays evenings as our permanent meeting times in March. Have a peaceful and restful break and good luck with assignments, papers and midterms. UNBC DS
