The #GoodAppleDrive is quickly starting to overwhelm us here at the cidery. #Calgary has a lot of good apples. We need volunteers to help pick, press and accept donations. Calling all good apples! Do you have crabapples in your backyard? Apples in your front yard? Harvest them and bring them to donate on Saturday, September 13th in the parking lot of @southcentremall , near the milestones. We will be there from 2pm-6pm. If you are thirsty after your hard work, @craftyycsouth and @milestones_southcentre will be serving cider. These apples will go towards our community yyc cider, with a portion of the profits being directed towards the Calgary Foodbank.

We are beyond excited to be launching this cider! Introducing the YYC Community Cider - 2018! This is a cider very special to us here at Uncommon. Made exclusively with apples picked and donated from Calgarians and fermented with only wild yeasts this is the first ever fully Calgary made cider. It’s taken a lot of time and even more support from the community to make this cider. With dropoff points throughout the city we collected a literal warehouse full of apples! Beautif...ully packaged in a clear 750ml bottle. This cider is meant for celebrating, sharing, and enjoying. In a rapidly growing category, it would be easier, and cheaper, to manufacture and sell cider, which conformed to the sweet-conditioned taste buds of North Americans.... But that would be cheating a principle. And so Brodie and crew stick to their guns. Mashing, fermenting, watching, waiting, as their authentic cider slowly marinades into a nectar like no other. One might call it uncommon. But just because they are rooted in old school values, does not mean they’re averse to innovation.
