12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS DAY TWELVE FAMILY CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS As far back as we can remember, in our home, Christmas Day did not start and no gifts were exchanged until the Christmas story was read from Luke chapter 2. So many memories of Dad holding his Bible (the green NIV one) and reading to us. The words are clear in our minds "These gifts that Mom & I bought for you are not really about the gift itself but the reminder of the gift we all received in a manger over 2,0...00 years ago." This tradition has carried on over the years, with many different family members reading the Christmas story. It was about 2011 when Dad passed the torch and "appointed" someone else to read. He always said how important it was for the younger generation to understand the meaning of the words and there was no better way than to read them aloud. Sometimes it was the oldest grandchild, sometimes it was the most recent of the grandchildren to get engaged and sometimes it was a group of grandchildren who read together (as seen in this photo). No matter who, the message has always remained the same; The true meaning of Christmas is about the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, humbly born in a manager so long ago. From our family to yours, we wish you the most blessed Christmas and encourage you to spend some time reading the Christmas story.
