To our offshore family on Hibernia,Terra Nova and the Sea Rose as well as the Hebron platform, the many Supply ships, Cougar Helicopters and all the Staff and offshore workers that worked so hard through 2020 with the Covid, the layoffs and everything else that has been thrown at you. The Drill rigs the Transocean Barents, the Henry Goodrich, and the West Aquarius May there be many production holes that you will drill this year and years to come in NL waters. I Applaud and st...and up for you all it is you that took the brunt of the year and it is you that has survived the odds, now that a new year is upon us we will all keep shoulder to shoulder to keep what you worked so hard for and deserve. This is a hard year but I am betting that 2021 will be a year that we will all stand back and be proud of what we have overcome. Thanks to you all for helping with the Rally You showed your support you stood up and voiced your concerns. A special thank you the executive of Local 2121 and UNIFOR National. Going into 2021 we will continue to stand together and let our voices be heard. My hope for you all is a safe and happy 2021 one that you will be happy to see. Happy New year. Dave Mercer

In a few minutes we will see what the governments will do for our Offshore workers, I hope we get our members back and working soon.

Worker support called for Dave Mercer, local president of the Unifor union, also hopes the government will commit to supporting the industry in his Speech from the Throne, but adds that a potential aid program must give priority to workers. Some 20,000 jobs depend on the oil sector in Newfoundland and Labrador,he says. I would like to see these tax incentives for our companies, but we have to make sure that people go back to work accordingly. Mercer also points out that oil workers have been waiting for months for government assistance. The provincial government, whose revenues continue to fall, has already repeatedly said that it does not have the means to support the industry and that the support required will have to come from Ottawa. I sincerely believe that Seamus O'Regan [the federal Minister of Natural Resources] is concerned about the future of Newfoundland and will do something to help us. "If he doesn't do anything and Mr. Trudeau does nothing, I think their honeymoon is over here,"he says.
