With 2021 just around the corner. We thought we’d look back at 2020 and reflect on the positives! 2020 Has been a very different year. Despite the challenges we've faced off the field, we've managed to make it a successful one!... Since announcing Project Unity inJuly, Union FC has grown rapidly! We managed to Successfully unite the two biggest Soccer Clubs in our Community.Now we're planning to further build upon this Unity in 2021.We learned that we have a fantastic membership base. The support that our members have shown us this year has truly been overwhelming.It’s incredible to see that people believe in what we're building.We want Union FC to be at the heart of our Community. That means giving back to the people who support us, and you did!The response to our holiday community initiative was amazing!We're hugely proud that our members donated over 15 Boxes of Food to our Holiday Food Drive.This was donated to the Helping Hand Food Bank in Bradford and directly benefits local people.Moving forward into 2021, on the field, we're excited that we'll finally get to see our teams play competitively! Its been a long time coming, but It will be worth the wait!One of the main aims of the Union FC project was to unite people through soccer. We're delighted to say that we have achieved that aim already and we will continue to do so in the future.Thank You to everyone who has been a part of our new journey so far, Members, Staff, Fans & Partners!2021 will be a better year. A Huge Thank You to Everyone who Donated to our Holiday Food Drive!During our last week of training in December, we collected an overwhelming amount of non-perishable food items from our players, staff, coaches, operating partners (Bradford Sports Dome) and even members of the public! We managed to fill over 15 full boxes (that's more than one box per team!) that were donated to the Helping Hand Food Bank in Bradford. Friday December 18th saw us wrap up our on field operations for 2020. As we settle in for the Holiday Season, it’s time to reflect back over the past few months and relax. After a what can only be described as a difficult year and despite difficult off-field circumstances, we managed to safely return to the field.We’d like to say a HUGE Thank to all of our Staff, Coaches, Parents, Volunteers and Players for helping us make this a reality.... A huge part of Project Unity and the creation of Union FC, was the desire to place ourselves at the heart of our community. With this in mind, we developed several community initiatives, the first of these is our 2020 Holiday Food Drive. We have so far, collected a huge amount of non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Helping Hand Food Bank in Bradford. Project Unity Launch Film. We produced a short film, titled ‘Stronger Together’ to celebrate the launch and unity of two community soccer clubs (Eagles & Dragons), coming together to form Union FC. Soccer, plays a huge role in peoples lives at all ages. In this short film, we explore how life has been without soccer, how we stayed connected when they couldn't be together and the eventual return to the field as one united Club, Union FC. Introducing Union FC.... Union FC strives to bring people together through Sport providing the opportunity for all Canadians within Our communities to play soccer. We have already had great success on the field from both founding Clubs, producing players who have moved on to Professional Clubs within Canada, Europe and to play College Soccer across North America, many of which achieving Scholarships. We also want to highlight the success from leading Canadian soccer stars to inspire our players, such as, the Portland Thorns FC & Canadian Women’s National Team Captain, and Leading All-time International Goal Scorer Christine Sinclair. Canadian Men’s National Team & FC Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies and our very own Olympic Bronze Medalist Deanne Rose, Whom are all paid tribute in this short film. The Film also pays tribute to many Great Canadian Soccer Teams, Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Impact de Montréal.
