We are proud to support our neighbour, Sistering. Sistering has been serving the Bloorcourt community for over 35 years, validating the experiences of women and trans people regardless of outcomes. Community members come from diverse backgrounds and include women and trans people who are experiencing, or have experiences with: substance use and mental health issues; disability; trauma and violence; immigration, refugee, and undocumented status. Now more than ever, front l...ine organizations like Sistering need our support. In place of a gift, consider making a donation in someone's name through our fundraising drive. Union Yoga is matching donations up to $500. Help us meet our fundraising goal of $1,000 by December 25. EDITED: We have met our goal! Help us smash it and raise $2000!!! #GivingTuesday was last week, but there’s plenty of reasons to keep it going today! Here are some of the ways we are giving back: Free Virtual Studio Access is a program we are extending to Toronto-based NGOs and shelters who support underserved populations, equity access groups and First Nations organizations Canada-wide who are lobbying for respect for ecological protections and treaty rights.... This is a new venture for us, and we are growing it through community-led nominations. So far this month we have granted free access to the Toronto Rape and Crisis Center, Fatima House, and Black Lives Matter Toronto. For every ticket sale from our NYE event (visit our website for details and to buy your ticket!), we will donate one ticket to a local artist, activist, or community-care volunteer working hard to make Toronto a kinder, safer space for all. Ways that you can give: Donate to one of the organizations above Support local small businesses (gift cards!) Donate your Perkville points (they retire on Dec 31!)
Join leaders from Toronto’s movement and yoga community for a candid discussion on how they are navigating through the pandemic and beyond. About this Event: Rolling mandatory closures. Limited class capacities. Looming overhead expenses. Join leaders from Toronto’s movement and yoga community for a candid discussion on how brick and mortar studios are navigating through the COVID-19 pandemic, and working to dismantle systems of oppression now and beyond.... We explore changes to the instructor and studio owner relationship, the challenges in pivoting to virtual yoga, and the ways in which the Black Lives Matter movement has called the wellness industry into question. This discussion is for studio owners and operators, instructors, yoga enthusiasts, and all community members looking to better adapt to the evolving movement and yoga space. Monday, November 23 from 2 pm - 4 pm Hosted via Zoom Sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/beyond-2020-the-future-of-brick
