What a rollercoaster the last 2 weeks have been! The Province has just announced that Children’s Dance Classes can resume with a Covid-19 safety plan, so families will be receiving an email with updates, and classes will start up again tomorrow, Dec. 4th. Can’t wait to see all the dancers in person again!... #teamUnited #season6

The Province was slated to release the updated guidelines for dance studios on November 30th, but that didn’t happen, so we are moving onto plan B! An email is being sent out to families outlining next steps, but for now my main goal is to keep dancers moving until we can resume in person classes. Please check your emails for updates. Key word is temporary! The BC provincial government has just updated the Provincial Health Order and Dance Studios must suspend operations while new guidelines are prepared. Not ideal, but we will be dancing again as soon as we can! Email updates will be sent to families with any and all news as it’s a constantly evolving situation. S.T.E.P ! These dancers are joining United Dance in the S.T.E.P. Program this year (S.T.E.P stands for Student Teacher Education Program). It’s a win-win program as they’re guided on proper class structure and curriculum, and the students they teach will receive all their fun energy and unique choreography.... Hey studio dancers, check this out! To help keep everyone moving, I’m creating a contest, and it couldn’t be more simple: 1. Create a piece of your own choreography that is approx 30 seconds long 2. Record it and email it to [email protected] 3. Get it in by May 31st... You can enter multiple entries, but it needs to be something you can dance again so make sure you remember your entries. I’ll have 3 guest judges adjudicate, and there are prizes for the best entries. Any style and any song choice is welcome, so get creative! Costumes and unique filming venues are encouraged. It’s certainly not ideal, but it is in the best interest of our students and community to temporarily shut down studio operations. I’m optimistic that we will be able to get back to normal soon, and will continue to update as things progress. Our classes are predominantly filled with young women, and dance class is a safe space to be bold, take up room, sweat, and express emotions which is so important for women of all ages. These young ladies have been working hard all year, and I hope they all recognize that they are much more than the false lashes, medals and trophies- they are strong, tough, and inspiring to the next generation looking up to them. #teamUnited #season5
