THANKSGIVING AND CLINIC 554 As we give thanks to God for his countless blessings, let's not forget Clinic 554. It's closed! {NOTE: Please see Oct. 13 post above clarifying that abortions are still being performed at this location} Despite months of intense media pressure, the government of Blaine Higgs stood firm against using public funds for the abortuary. As a result, no more babies are losing their lives there. ...Continue reading

HOPEFUL ELECTION OUTCOME IN NB By Peter Ryan Blaine Higgs won a strong victory in the September 14th New Brunswick election. Higgs and his Conservatives emerged with a comfortable majority. ... The outcome breathes new hope that the province's longstanding opposition to funding freestanding abortion clinics will not change anytime soon. That policy had been at risk because three other parties - Liberals, Greens and NDP - had all been in favor of public funding for Clinic 554, Fredericton's abortuary. Premier Higgs has steadfastly refused calls to fund the facility. Meanwhile the main contender for Mr. Higgs' job, Liberal leader Kevin Vickers, went down to defeat in his own riding and has resigned as leader. Vickers was ready to fund Clinic 554. Meanwhile the main contender for Mr. Higgs' job, Liberal leader Kevin Vickers, went down to defeat in his own riding and has resigned as leader. Vickers was ready to fund Clinic 554. This writer thanks the many pro-life supporters who prayed for a pro-life outcome in the election. As a sign of keen interest among pro-lifers, my pre-election post on the Clinic 554 issue drew over 1,800 views. What will be interesting to see now is whether the election outcome will have any effect on whether the clinic closes, as they've been threating to do for many months citing financial pressure from a lack of public funding. What can concerned pro-life supporters do now? Several things: 1) Pray about the future of Clinic 554 2) Write a note to Premier Higgs thanking him for his stand on funding abortion clinics 3) Suggest to the Premier that he consider other measures to protect New Brunswick children before birth. More specifically, urge him to (a) take steps to defund abortions in hospitals and via the pill Mifegymiso; (b) provide funds to crisis pregnancy centers. Don't forget to say a word or two why you want him to do so! To contact Mr. Higgs, write The Hon. Blaine Higgs, Premier Province of New Brunswick Chancery Place, P O Box 6000 Fredericton NB E3B 5H1 Or email him at [email protected] Thank you and God bless you!

Dear Friend of Life and Religious Liberty, As you may know, the New Brunswick Legislature will vote any day on Bill 11, the mandatory vaccination law sponsored by Education Minister Dominic Cardy. This legislation would make it mandatory for all school children to be vaccinated and not allow for any exemptions based on religious or conscience concerns. The non-allowance of such exemptions makes it pretty unusual and controversial, as various news reports have indicated. Bec...Continue reading

HI EVERYONE, IT'S LATE NOTICE BUT IF YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY OF CANADA IS HAVING A LEADERSHIP RACE AND YOU ARE ALLOWED TO VOTE FOR THE TWO PRO-LIFE CANDIDATES DEREK SLOAN AND LESLYN LEWIS. YOU JUST NEED TO BE A CPC MEMBER - AND THE DEADLINE IS TOMORROW MAY 15! $15. For more on this see the message below from LifeCanada. Sorry for the late notice! Peter Ryan Dear Friends of LifeCanada,... As you know, LifeCanada is a national association of local member groups working across Canada to educate the public on issues of abortion, euthanasia and other 'life issues'. While we are non-political in nature, it is not beyond our mandate to educate on matters that touch the political sphere. Certainly we have commented on many life issues and how they are handled by legislative bodies in Canada. Last year we engaged in a campaign to bring awareness to the 50 years that have lapsed since abortion was legalized in Canada. Today we have another opportunity to address these issues. There remains in Canada only two political parties who have not deemed the issues of abortion to be anathema, and who would allow their members to vote according to conscience on this and other life issues. One of those parties - the Conservative party of Canada - is engaged in a tight leadership race and citizens have an opportunity to bring to the fore the issues that they hold most dear. Two of the possible candidates are pro-life, and have made public statements in favor of protecting human life. Dr. Leslyn Lewis and Mr. Derek Sloan have both shown very strong pro-life attitudes and a willingness to stand for these issues. In order to vote for Dr. Lewis and MP Derek Sloan, a person must be a current CPC member before May 15, 2020. To sign-up or renew today: donate.conservative.ca/membership/ For more information, there are several organizations that work specifically and intentionally on these issues, bringing attention to the fact that there are pro-life candidates. Right Now, has a roster of pro-life contenders for political office and leadership: www.itstartsrightnow.ca/cpc_leadership2020. Also Campaign Life Coalition can help people identify pro-life candidates and members of parliament or legislative assembly: www.campaignlifecoalition.com/voting-records. Finally, We Need A Law does much to help educate voters. www.weneedalaw.ca With deadlines approaching, we hope you are interested to know of these opportunities to support pro-life legislators and help move Canada towards a culture that values and protects all human life. Sincerely for Life, Natalie Sonnen Executive Director LifeCanada
