Throughout 2020, nonprofits have been essential, responsive and innovative. The challenges of last year generated a huge increase in demand from charitable organizations, resulting in higher costs for many. 2021 can be a year to learn from these challenges in order to stabilize funding and partnerships. https://www.thechronicleherald.ca//commentary-nonprofits-/
"Some of us who have made mistakes in the past have tried to better ourselves and become good people and try and have a job and work. But it seems that you’re stuck not being able to get a good-paying job or a career because the only jobs you can get are lower-paying jobs."
Happy New Year's Halifax! Wishing you all the best in 2021!
The United Way Community Fund can use your support anytime of the year, but tomorrow is the cut off for 2020 tax receipts! Make a donation today and you’ll provide safe shelter, crucial connection and warm meals to our community’s most vulnerable. https://www.unitedwayhalifax.ca/#donate
This has been an incredibly challenging year for us all. But the resilience, commitment to community and compassion that our donors and volunteers have shown, has made a huge impact on local lives. Thank you to everyone for showing your #locallove.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Youth Project adapted their services to ensure that the 2SLGBTQ+ community they serve could stay connected. Organizations like The Youth Project depend on the stable, reliable funding from United Way's Community Fund to offer their life-changing programs. #UnitedByCompassion https://www.facebook.com/132182716809961/videos/778518506272775
Affordable housing, low vacancy rates and sky rocketing rent were issues before the pandemic. Now, nearly 500 people in the HRM are experiencing homelessness as temperatures begin to drop. #Right2Housing https://www.cbc.ca//homeless-report-2020-covid-19-affordab
In order for our community to thrive, it is just as important to support local charities as much as local businesses. When you donate to United Way Halifax, your donation stays 100% local. #LocalLove https://www.unitedwayhalifax.ca/#donate

Today is World Kindness Day. No matter who you are, you have kindness to give others. Kindness doesn't cost a thing, and yet the return is so valuable. Happy World Kindness Day!
When you donate to United Way Halifax's Community Fund, you're providing opportunity for people living in poverty in our community. #UnitedByCompassion
