As food gets more expensive, food security is getting even more important. We work with agencies like the Nicola Valley Food Bank to help with food security in their communities. Together, we were able to ensure that seniors in Merritt could have a choice of fresh fruits and vegetables after Covid-19 started to limit access to healthy foods earlier in 2020. ... Thank you, Nicola Valley Food Bank for all the hard work you do.
It's time to end the stigma We know that men from ages 19 to 49 are at the highest risk of overdose death. We know that there are an average of 5.6 deaths from illicit drug toxicity EVERY SINGLE DAY in BC. ... We know that over 50% of overdose deaths occur in private residences. We know these things. They are heartbreaking. Help us end the stigma against drug use, so people are able to reach out and ask for help when they need it. Visit https://www.addictionmatters.ca/resources to view resources and help end the stigma against individuals impacted by substance abuse. Download and print the posters available on the website and post them in your workplace. Share this to help spread awareness

Happy Holidays from our family to yours! We are sincerely thankful for every one of the people who donated or volunteered their time with us this year. We wish you all a very Happy Holiday from the bottom of our hearts
We are blown away and so thankful! For the first time, Kamloops-Thompson School District 73 Business Company is contributing to their United Way employee campaign. SD73 has always been a welcome supporter to United Way TNC, but seeing the need for wraparound services more than ever this year, they have added $10,000 to their campaign.... Thank you!
Our heartfelt thanks to Dearborn Ford who faithfully chooses to invest in their community where it is needed most! We're so grateful that in this difficult year generous local businesses choose to give back however they are able for the good of many. This gift will make a huge difference!
Thank you Interior Savings for your ongoing support! We love seeing your creativity and generosity in action

The Kamloops Brain Injury Association does incredible work in our community and we are proud to support them in that work through the generosity of our donors, but recently we were also grateful to receive their support for the health and safety of our staff! Thanks to the KBIA and local Rotary Clubs who made this clinic possible and welcomed other local charities to take part. https://www.kamloopsthisweek.com//kamloops-brain-injury-as
Our thanks to Surerus Murphy who we’ve been proud to partner with as they give back to the communities they work in! Here’s what they had to say when their Santa swung by for a visit this week: We were proud to present United Way with a $4,000 cheque to help with the incredible work they do for this city...we’re looking forward to the new year and helping them to make a difference in our home away from home - Kamloops!... Great job as always by our employees of Spread 5A by supporting all the charities up to this point. Pipeliners spend so much of their time away from their own families yet they make the community they work in their new family while they are there working. Hard hat salute to this group of phenomenal people . - Thank you to the hard working folks of Surerus Murphy!!!!
That is amazing. It gives us hope..." - Mario Borba, The Mustard Seed Kamloops Managing Director We are so proud to help address the critical and mounting needs of the most vulnerable people in our community, and to support the people delivering the front line services they need.
Can anyone guess where this window wrap is? This lovely piece of work is donated by UnderWraps Advertising Solutions Thank you for your high quality work, UnderWraps!
211 is an amazing tool for all Canadians. United Ways across the country have been working hard to let Canadian's know about the 211 services available, and with the Government of Canada's help, even more people will know about this free service. Watch the video of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau talk about 211.
"Demand for services has increased, but our ability to offer those services hasn't necessarily increased." - Alix Dolson, Agency Coordinator of the Kamloops Sexual Assault Counselling Centre. We're thankful for you, Alix. Thank you for the work you do in our community. And we're happy to support you and your work. ... Watch the full video here https://youtu.be/DCwYSxG7pDI
Last Tuesday, Paula Schmidt at Strategic Dynamics hosted a workshop presented to 28 attendees representing non-profits across our region. Paula quoted John Carver and said: "If you haven't said how it ought to be don't ask how it is." She described this as an important principle that Boards must keep in mind when reviewing the work of an executive director and the agency they support. Clear direction and communication results in desired outcomes along with responsible inter...pretation, of course. Thank you Paula for hosting this workshop!
Jazz Hands for Costco! As the Interim Executive Director of United Way TNC I’m going to let you in on a secret (that probably won’t surprise anyone): Like so many others, 2020 is a scary year for us. ... The weight of the responsibility to try and meet the mounting individual needs of our community would be terrifying if we were doing it alone...but we’re constantly reminded that we’re not. The campaign trail to raise the Community Funds that are distributed to local charities doing critical work with vulnerable populations looks very different this year, but it’s the work of volunteers like Kelly (pictured) and Janelle who were the engine behind Costco’s employee campaign that remind us that local love always comes through. This was the first campaign envelop to be picked up this year, and I’d be lying if I said my mask didn’t catch a few tears as I sorted the pledge forms and remembered the power of many individuals who give what they can, from where they are, and with what they have. Alone, we can’t feed every hungry child, support everyone with a brain injury, care for the needs of children with developmental delays, provide secure housing for all, offer victims of domestic abuse or sexualized violence escape or counselling, solve the root issues of poverty ... it’s just too much. But if we do it the United Way? We will see the change we want in this world. Thank you to every volunteer and donor who is stepping up to make their workplace campaign a success as we speak. Especially in this difficult year, you are the difference makers. Kindly, Katie Neustaeter
Remembering those who sacrificed their lives for our country. #locallove
