Fall Farm Update // Last week we got over 800 cloves of garlic planted and enjoyed the most beautiful fall colours!

- Tonight is the night of the City Council Meeting - In July our project went before the Planning Committee and received a recommendation for approval based on a 4-1 vote. Tonight Unity will go before City Council for the full council vote. This final vote will determine the fate of our project. In light of this crucial upcoming vote, we wanted to thank you all so much for your support. For writing letters to the City, signing our online petition, speaking at council meetings... and attending our open house. A BEEautiful sight! Did you know that pollinators, like these little guys, help to sustain our ecosystem and are responsible for 1 out of every 3 bites of food we eat?

So many beautiful blooms in our gardens! We absolutely love seeing all the bees, butterflies and hummingbirds hanging around our flower beds . Plants and flowers pictured include: Echinacea (white & fuchsia), Leucanthemum, Daisies, Phlox, Zina, Sunflower, Red Bee Balm, Butterfly bush, Hosta, Russian Sage, Sedums, Blue Evergreen, Birch, Thyme, Lavender, Succulents, Eryngium Thistle, Astilbe and Astrantia.

Last Thursday, Unity Farm, Inn & Spa received a recommendation for approval from the City's planning committee in a 4 to 1 vote. The next and final step to attain the necessary rezoning to continue with our project is a full council vote on Aug. 11. On behalf of the people of Glenburnie and the greater Kingston area, we wanted to take a moment to thank all members of city council and city staff for their thorough review of our proposal. We want to thank our partners, includin...g Fotenn Planning + Design, who have worked with us through this lengthy process to ensure all t's have been crossed and i's dotted. Greenhouse Progress The foundation for our greenhouse is going in. A new home for our starter plants will soon be ready!

The bees have arrived and our apiary is officially up and running!

Garden cleanup is in full swing now that we are finally seeing some warmer temperatures. Watching the spring blooms starting to pop up has been so refreshing, especially given these difficult past few months. We are excited for the veggie and flower planting currently underway and can’t wait to share our progress with you in the coming weeks!

Prep work has started for this year’s planting. Here’s hoping that this unseasonably cold weather will let up soon so that we can all enjoy a bit of much needed sunshine. Stay safe and stay healthy
