Some of us may have spent much time spinning our wheels spiritually. I know at certain times of my life I certainly have. We are surrounded in our life with other disciplines and messages such as science & technology, some philosophies, and even things we have acquired from our culture, everyday work and play. In my view this may actually be pointing and nudging many of us back onto our spiritual path, but for many reasons and biases, they stop us from seeing what is right be...fore our very eyes. Our culture and the truth providers have told us that science cannot support religion or any discussion of the spirit, or anything that cannot be objectively quantified. And many of faith have not, I feel, fully understood the fact that we need all of us to move forward. Left brained and right brained, realists and those more gifted in the intuitive skills. When I think of Thanksgiving I think of gratitude and all the things in my life that I am grateful for. What I have come to realize in my own life is that until I was able to appreciate and be grateful for me, I was unable to accept or receive appreciation and gratitude from others. Until I was able to accept myself as I am, warts and all, I was unable to fully appreciate or be grateful for anything outside myself. I will be speaking about three things: Self-Love, Self-Acceptance, and Self-Forgiveness. For without these three things there is no thanks giving. How can we give what we do not have? We are all worthy of love, acceptance, and forgiveness. There is so much to be grateful for and it all begins in our own hearts.

Using this month’s theme ‘My search for home is already mapped; the way is written on my heart’ as a starting point, Wendy Karr, LUT and historian will share how the planning and building of the physical buildings at Unity’s headquarters in the Kansas City area have demonstrated spiritual principles which can be applied in our own lives.

At a deeper level our eternal quest is to experience peace, prosperity, fulfillment and happiness. Along the way we must remember that our pain and suffering is the human experience. At the soul level it is a learning experience. Let us provide the channel through which the soul can guide us and we can allow ourselves to experience the journey. Declare: There are no obstructions to the operation of truth within me. I am guided, led and directed to do what I need to do to become the person that I need to become in order to have the experience I desire to have. Be conscious and cautious for the soil of our mind will operate on whatever seeds we plant into it by our predominant thinking.

We are all being called to be an instrument of peace. To be that transformative presence that alchemizes the chaos and fear in the world into the peace that is always present. In the words of St. Francis "Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, Where there is hatred, let me sow love."
