Dr. Anis was able to upgrade his old mill to bring us the most advanced technology in chairside milling available on the market today, straight from Germany. For 54 years, the @healthystartchild mission has been to ensure that every child has the opportunity to become a healthy and happy adult. The healthy start system guides incoming teeth into their correct alignments naturally and non-invasively, all while addressing common childrens health issues associated with sleep disordered breathing. Did you know that one of the most common questions we get from parents is: When should I bring my baby in for their first visit? There is a correct answer for this as outlined by the Canadian Dental Association. It’s after the eruption of their first tooth or by the time they turn one year old (whichever one comes first). A quick checkup every six months after will help us to detect any problems early, at these appointments we check that their teeth are coming in properly, that their not tongue or lip tied, that their teeth are being cleaned properly, and it helps them get to know us as the people with the fun chairs and great prize bucket! When kids get to know us (and our prize bin) future appointments go like a breeze!

With COVID regulations we had some hiccups getting our new surprise to us and guess what, it’s finally here! Some fun facts about our newest addition to the clinic: we are the fourth dental clinic in Saskatchewan to have this equipment, and we just received confirmation that we will be the first dental clinic in Canada to receive the upgrade allowing us to help patients with sleep apnea and snoring! Did you know that it’s also important to focus on how you store your toothbrush while you’re not using it? It is recommended to store toothbrushes in an upright position after use and allow them to air dry. Storing a moist toothbrush in a closed container promotes microbial growth more so than leaving it exposed to the open air.

Dr. Anis and his trusty side-kick are spending the weekend learning about feeding, feeling and function for babies with @breathe_institute and @drchelseapinto . This course is teaching him how to safely intervene with the newest and safest techniques when an infant is tongue restricted to improve growth and development while improving breast feeding patterns for mom and baby. Reduced Services Effective Immediately The team at Unity Dental continually has been assessing the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic. With many hours of thought and consideration, we will be suspending non-essential services effective immediately. We believe it is in our mission to provide high quality dental care in a manner that is safe and puts our patients, staff, and their families first. Effective immediately, all non-essential dental work: hygiene, and restorative d...ental work will be suspended until the Canadian Dental Association deems it safe to continue. Our staff will be contacting you in the coming days to reschedule your upcoming appointments. DRUM ROLL, PLEASE! This week we have a very exciting announcement that is spotlighting one of our very own. Our dearest, Jenna was nominated for a Leaders in Practice award. Leaders in Practice is a Canada-wide annual award recognizing to the top professionals in the industry, she has made it to the shortlist which showcases the top 10 in each role across the nation. Heres what Jennas nomination said: Jenna is an incredible dental assistant. We are so lucky to have her ...at our practice, she is an incredibly hardworking, and happy assistant, she is truly a gem. Jenna can walk in a room and no matter the age, procedure, or demographic of the patient she can make them feel completely at ease. She is a very busy mom of 3 and I dont think anything can slow her down. She is always doing something and always keeps things organized and together, she naturally fell into a leadership and mentor role at the clinic for our other DAs, our entire team feels lucky to work with Jenna everyday. Its FRIDAY, the day you have been waiting for! Today the staff at Unity Dental Clinic were trained on our new digital workflow that we are officially integrating into the clinic. (I know youre thinking great what does this even mean other than cool videos?) This announcement means we are able to keep procedures in-house that we had to previously send across the province to a lab technician. This method introduced inaccuracies (also more impressions) and increased your wai...t times. For our patients this means better access to care, and better treatment outcomes. Our hope for you is that it means less trips to the dentist, because your priority should be to use that healthy smile with the ones you love. With transparency in mind we would like to disclose our current orthodontic situation. We had some very excited people asking if our announcement was going to be clear aligners. This technology is brand new from Germany; in Canada they are currently rolling out the newest orthodontic software for our scanner. We are very exited to offer clear aligners to our patients, but disappointed to say it will be a little wait. We will be making a separate announcement introducing the exact date we are going to start taking patients for clear aligners. We promise to keep you all updated! Here are some fun facts about the new technology! 1. It will lead to less need for goopy impressions! Eventually we hope to integrate more technology to become an impression free office. 2. We hope to improve our efficiency with the new equipment over the next few months, eventually hoping to have no wait time at all with our crown deliveries! 3. This is the newest technology on the dental market. It is estimated that only 3-5 dental clinics in Saskatchewan have this exact same setup! UDC- Team Spotlight- Kelsie Shes almost 6 months into hanging out with us everyday and we might be beginning to think that shes the goofiest one of us all Meet the wonderful Kelsie Kelsie was welcomed back to the UDC team with open arms and we have been having a great time ever since. ... Kelsie is a super mom to probably the funniest and some of the cutest twins weve ever met. Youll know they are their mothers daughters if you ever meet them, they are the goofiest and happiest two year olds youll meet. Kelsie joined our team in May when we were expanding for a second full-time dentist. Now that Dr. T is here, she is his right hand woman, they go together like peanut butter and jam and you couldnt believe that theyve only been working together for just over a month. Everyone, meet Lisa! Lisa has joined the Unity Dental Team, unfortunately, her stay with us will be only temporarily until she heads back to school in August. Lisa is a 3rd Dental Student and is completing a summer internship with mentorship alongside Dr. Anis. The staff already love Lisa and she has fit into our team so seamlessly, she has been referred to as kind and patient, by both staff and patients she has treated in her short time here. Here are a couple fun facts abou...t Lisa to get to know her better... She was born and raised in Saskatoon, and completed her Bachelor Degree in Chemistry before she started Dental School Lisa also is an avid crafter in her spare time she is multi-talented, she is able to knit, sew, and crochetLisa also loves cats, she has already rescued two. Yesterday was the last day for us with the most fabulous UCHS student that we had the privilege to host at the clinic for her Workplace Experience class. Kira has an interest in the medical profession and we hope that she stays excited about dentistry as a potential career path. She left us a note that touched all of us and even brought a tear to one. It stated The incredible people here quickly helped make the clinic feel like my second home.. We couldnt agree more Kira, you fit into our work family seamlessly.
