Today we will highlight the pharmacy station. At this station, volunteers get to help prepare prescriptions, work alongside pharmacists and learn more about medication. It’s a great opportunity to develop hands-on skills.
The fourth station of a medical brigade is sometimes the optometry station. The occurrence of this station depends on whether the brigade has the necessary supplies (donated glasses). During the station volunteers get to shadow professionals give eye exams and examine patient’s vision. See the link in our bio for the general member application
The second station of a medical brigade is consult. At this station volunteers get to collaborate with doctors during patient consultations. It’s a great learning opportunity to shadow a doctor and see how they interact and diagnose patients. Thé doctors ensure that engage with volunteers during the consultations by explaining their thought process and occasionally asking volunteers some basic questions.
Welcome back warriors! We are so excited to start the new school year. Over the course of this week, we will highlight each of the stations of a GB medical brigade so you can get a taste of what being on brigade is like. Also throughout the week we will have some of our past brigade members share their own experiences on brigade. Stay tuned for more! Today we are highlighting the triage station. At the triage station volunteers have the opportunity to directly interact with patients by recording their vitals, chief complaints, blood glucose and allergies. This station allows you to develop and learn important technical clinical skills. Translators are always available to help you communicate with the patients. Feel free to reach out for more information about us!
