Lorne Cardinal was the first-ever Indigenous student to be admitted into the UAlberta's BFA acting program in 1990. It's paid itself off numerous times - the technique and craft they teach at the U of A are second to none. I never looked back. In recognition of this stellar career since graduating, Cardinal received the prestigious August Schellenberg Award of Excellence earlier this month from the Toronto-based ImagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival - the world’s larges...t Indigenous film and media arts festival! Congratulations, Lorne! #yegarts #UAlberta

Imagine performers being able to wear an infinite array of costumes by having different outfits projected onto them, that looked and moved in realistic ways. Or the ability to create worlds and environments that could react to performers on stage, without the need for physical set pieces. The seemingly boundless applications of projected media in live performances is what Jeff Osterlin and Guido Tondino are excited to explore with grant funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation to acquire this advanced projection technology for the Department of Drama.
