Got 8 minutes? I stumbled upon this video the other night and wanted to share it as it sums up so well what I've never been able to explain properly. You know those chunky wool roving blankets seen on Pinterest - the ones that are usually knit with broomsticks or your arms - that always look so beautiful. I get people in the store pretty regularly asking for the materials to make these, and while I could make a small fortune on it (the roving alone will set you back several ...hundred dollars), I discourage it. Why? Because the blanket will last about 10 days before it starts looking ratty and you won't be happy.
