The One Sweater We've all got one, that one sweater that you keep reaching for over and over and over again until it's so worn that it has no shape and you're not sure you should be wearing it outside the house. Yeah - that one. I recently made the hard decision to truly let one go. It was a favourite and I had worn it literally for years. But it was time. Which means of course, that it's time to cast on something to replace it! I had a sweater's quantity of Arranmore Light ...from The Fibre Co. that I had salvaged from another garment (loved the yarn, but wasn't happy with the sweater I had made with it) that I was keen to use so was utterly delighted to find that The Fibre Company had reworked their classic pattern called "The One Sweater" to use with lighter weight yarns - including Arranmore Light. What I love about this pattern is it looks so simple - just another pullover right? - but is actually full of little details which make it an interesting knit. It has an unusual cast-on (I actually had to watch the support video) and has lots of support for all the little details (did I mention all the videos). It will be a timeless classic. I'm caught in the middle of wanting the project to take some time because I'm enjoying it, and wanting it done so I can wear it. This pattern is available in a wide range of sizes, from toddler through 64" chest and is available on Ravelry. Get all the details on this yarn here: http://ow.ly/NLRG50DrvPb

How fun is this! This is the very start of the Papillon Shawl by Marin Melchior. This isn't a new pattern, it was actually published in 2015 but I've seen it several times and it stops me in my tracks. Every. Single. Time. I finally decided I had to have one.... Imagine my delight to discover that there's are kits! I'm working in the original colours from @urthyarns but there are other colour blends available as well as enormous scope for stash diving to make this truly a one-of-a-kind piece. Since somebody will ask - is it hard to do? No. This is plain ol' garter stitch and short rows (I'm using German short rows but you could absolutely do a wrap and turn. Knitter's choice). However - and this is big - you do really need to pay close attention to where you are in the pattern so at this stage I don't consider it TV knitting. But it is definitely an addictive knit! I keep wanting to do 'just one more section' to see how the colours change and blend. Stay tuned, I expect this will work up quickly! Get all the details on this kit here: http://ow.ly/ug2O50DjN6f

New Alegria colours! We've just received two new colours in Alegria. Meet Pollen, a rich tonal gold and Bloom, a glorious blend of pinks, purples and greens. Is it too early to be dreaming of spring? Alegria is a fingering-weight yarn with 445 yds to a skein. This versatile yarn is a great choice for socks, shawls, baby clothes, lightweight garments and more. It's also a superwash so you can toss it in the wash for easy care.... Get all the details here: http://ow.ly/a8HG50DiDo8

The storefront may be closed to in-person shopping but we're still busy ordering stock! This is the first of the big post-Christmas restocking orders to arrive. What's in the boxes? This is from Berroco and is mostly Vintage and Ultra Alpaca with some Sesame, Mercado and Tiramisu in there too. The online inventory is up-to-date so if you've been waiting for something, be sure to check the website to see if it's now available. We remain open for shipping and curbside pickup. Stay well everyone!
