We were blown away by this performance of L'Heure Exquise (Reynaldo Hahn) by Conservatory voice student, Mayanna Carter. Mayanna has studied with voice instructor, Lisa Mulgrew, for many years now, and she continues to grow her talent through these challenging time with online lessons. Thank you so much for sharing your passion for music with us, Mayanna!
From the studio of Lisa Mulgrew, talented young vocal student, Annie Edwards, reminds us what winter *should* look like with her performance of "A Marshmallow World." Thank you for helping us spread the joy of music Annie!
Happy New Year! May 2021 be a year of inspiration, growth and discovery!
With today's announcement that current provincial restrictions have been extended to January 21, we will remain closed to in-person programming until our facility is able to re-open. The good news is that you can still access the expertise and guidance of distinguished musicians from the comfort and safety of your own home. Contact us today to find out more about online private music lessons!
We are thrilled with how excited everyone is to start making music this year! However, we ask for everyone's patience and understanding as we await an announcement from the province regarding the current restrictions in place, and whether in-person lessons can resume after January 12. We will be sure to update our Facebook page, website and newsletter as soon as we know more. Thank you for your enthusiasm and continued support of our programs.
We are digging deep into the vaults to share some inspiring performances from years gone by. Here we have our Incanto Singers (non-auditioned choir for ages 17+) performing at Southminster United Church five years ago. https://www.facebook.com/110910435681228/videos/674353939336872
This stunning vocal soundscape is the result of a virtual session with Allison Girvan that our @ULethbridge Music Conservatory Ventus Women’s Choir participated in last year after their in-person rehearsals were put on hold due to COVID. Allison looped and layered vocal improvisations recorded during their session to create this final compiled piece entitled Hiems Ventus. Take a moment to shut your eyes and let this beautiful tapestry of voices carry you away.
Merry Christmas from the Conservatory of Music!

Today we are throwing it back to Christmas last year with this performance of "Layers" by Michael Obermeyer by our We Hit It Percussion Ensemble.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes peek at the set-up for our Conservatory Choirs virtual rehearsal. We admire the adaptability and dedication of all our instructors and students!
Earlier this semester our elite percussion ensemble, We Hit It Percussion (WHIP), made a recording to be part of this super cool project called PAN IN UNITY which brought steel pan players and percussionists from around the world together. Check it out!
Next week's Music at Noon Concert features three outstanding musicians who also happen to teach with us here at the Conservatory. What better way to spend the lunch hour, than with some fun duets written for saxophone and trombone?
Conservatory instructor, Nick Sullivan, serenades us from home with this rendition of Greensleeves, arranged by Norlan Bewley. Thank you for helping us get into the spirit of the seaon, Nick!

This beautiful recording of our Ventus Women's Choir performing "Glow" by Eric Whiteacre (recorded last year) is the perfect song to usher in the spirit of the season.
We love it when you share your music with us! From the studio of Lavinia Parker, Luke (age 9) performs "Pop Goes the Weasel". Well done, Luke!
