U of R Softball Tryouts Sept 25, 26, & 27

Due to COVID19, the WCSA has officially cancelled the fall 2020 season. Instead, we are aiming to move our regular season and National Championship to the spring of 2021 (April & May). At this time, it is unclear if this will be a reality but we are making plans and assuming it is until told otherwise. The Cougars are still planning on holding tryouts for a 2020-2021 team. The official date is still undecided as we wait for some final details from the University but for those... interested in joining the team, we have rough plans for tryouts to be as early as mid-September but could possibly be as late as October. We plan to carry a training team of 18-19 girls through the fall and winter. We will then narrow the final roster down to 15 should we play a spring season. Anyone interested in joining the team MUST attend the tryout. We will post the official tryout date as soon as we have the final pieces of information that we need. As we move forward into this interesting and quite different year, we will be relying on our Cougar supporters more than ever. We look forward to seeing you all and hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.

We are recruiting for the 2020-2021 school year! We are specifically seeking the positions of catcher, pitcher, and short stop. Other positions will be considered if paired with a strong bat. Culture is everything at the U of R and we are looking to add girls who fit that culture. We are looking for girls who demonstrate integrity, humility, selflessness, and who really and truly enjoy the bonding experiences of playing on a team and for a team.... The Canadian system allows for five years of playing eligibility compared to the four years the US system allows. We are interested in adding girls with 0-3 years of collegiate playing experience. Additionally, playing for the UofR has the potential to unlock additional overseas travel and playing opportunities at the post- collegiate level for those qualified and interested.
