Has a sleeping partner told you that they hear you grinding your teeth when you are sleeping? Do your teeth feel flatter than they used to? These are just a few of the reasons why people think they may need a night guard. A night guard is essentially a protective plastic layer placed between your top and bottom teeth to help lessen the effects of nighttime grinding and clenching. In some cases, this can completely eliminate jaw pain and daytime headaches that originate from tight facial muscles, as well as helping to prevent excessive tooth wear or cracked teeth or fillings. Another suggestion is for children to change their toothbrushes more frequently than adults.
