Appointments for orthotics available until Dec. 17, 2020
Great information on taking care of your diabetic feet! #diabetesawarenessmonth
For those who aren't aware, the majority of Robert's staff are female. On our feet all day - even if we are all equipped with orthotics! This article gives a bit of insight on why the feminine foot may hurt ;) #whynotwednesday
We have been receiving a resurgence of phone calls looking for shoes to be provided with orthotics, or provided from outside shoe stores. Please remember, regular shoe brands (Blundstone, Nike, Asus, New Balance, etc.) are NOT orthopaedic footwear and are therefore NOT covered by your insurance plans. If your insurance plan covers 'off the shelf orthopaedic footwear' then you need to consider brands such as Apex Footwear, Drew Shoes, or Orthofeet.
MOVING INTO THE RED ZONE TO ALL OUR PATIENTS We want to reassure all of our patients that our clinic will remain open. Our capacity has now been lowered to 10 patients with the Ontario Government's announcement that Hamilton will be moved to the "Red Zone" level as of Monday November 16th. This change on Monday will not greatly affect our service as we already endeavour to maintain low capacity and move patients straight to exam rooms. ... We are still only available by appointment at this times. As always, we appreciate all of your support during these difficult times ahead and we look forward to serving you in a safe manner! See more
It was a year ago today that Katie became a certified reflexologist! Congratulations on your anniversary Katie Goliboski!
We will never forget.
#TGIF That's another week down in the books... time for a weekend respite.
There are many foot clinics on Upper James. Thought we might clearly point out where our office, next to The Boot Shop, is. Don't forget to call ahead before you drop by ;)
Have questions or need to book an appointment? Call during our office hours and speak to Katie our receptionist! 905-389-3838
Just love when our FedEx guy delivers some compression socks for a patient!
PSA Please be very careful when using any type of paid ride service!
Our main claim to fame is our ability to make you custom orthotics in a week or less. We often get people coming into the office looking for off-the-shelf orthotics, and unfortunately we honestly have no idea where to find them. We rely on our custom ones, we love our custom ones, so for us... why would we use anything else?
Another Monday is upon on, and that means another start to the school week. Whether you are in the classroom or online, these tips are useful!
Have to share this - great snippet of our sister clinic, Ancaster Foot Clinic & Orthotic Centre, in the village of Ancaster.
The cool Fall weather is upon us. This means weekend walks under leaves as they change colour, hunting for mushrooms in forests, and sore feet from sudden exercise. Check out these tips to help prevent regret.
Great article for the last days of Summer. Remember, now is a good time to plant bulbs for Spring and Garlic!

Many people with diabetes have a reduced capacity for sensation in their feet and are unable to feel when a stone is caught in a sock or ill fitting shoes are causing irritation. Delayed treatment combined with poor circulation, a common side effect of diabetes, results in slow healing and can cause small wounds to develop into an ulcer. In addition to carefully examining your feet every day for redness, abrasions, or any other change in their appearance it is recommended to wear seamless diabetic socks as they help increase blood flow to lower limbs, keep the feet warm, and limit sensation loss. Foot orthotics and modified shoes play a vital role in both the prevention and treatment of diabetic foot ulcers, as they relieve pressure on sensitive areas of your feet.
It's the middle of the week - best time to think about some self care to help get us to the weekend! https://www.pedorthic.ca/physical-distancing-foot-health/
Today’s #TipTuesday brought to you by the letters COVID
What are warts, and what causes them? A wart is a skin growth caused by some types of the virus called the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV infects the top layer of skin, usually entering the body in an area of broken skin. The virus causes the top layer of skin to grow rapidly, forming a wart. Warts can grow anywhere on the body, and there are different kinds. For example, Plantar warts grow on the soles of the feet. These are what we commonly treat, and are typically able to successfully eradicate over a number of appointments (sometimes as little as two, sometimes many depending on the severity of the wart).
When nail filing ______ brush up, brush ______. Can you decipher what Robert is saying? ;)
How often do you look at your feet? REALLY look at them? Do you check how thick your nails are, whether there is a buildup around the nail bed, or calluses, or thick areas of skin that may be corns or warts? Examine new lumps and bumps? Well, Robert does. He can provide a different perspective on your feet, advise you on appropriate foot wear, and help trouble shoot foot pain or gait issues. Call to set up your appointment today! If you need an appointment after work, now worries! Thursdays we are here until 7pm!
