Argus Residence for Young People has had support from the Cambridge Bingo and Gaming Centre for many years. Funds raised through bingo and gaming machines have helped towards Utilities, Resident Food, Security, Resident Telephone and transportation. Good morning. We will be closing the store for three weeks as a preemptive measure to help slow the community transmission of COVID-19. This will also allow some opportunity for our participants to practice their social media marketing skills that they have learned in the program. Hi Everyone, I hope this note finds you well. We have decided to implement additional measures to help the Cambridge community lead efforts to reduce the risk of COVID transmission. Starting next week, Uptown Thrift will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10 am - 4 pm with reduced staffing and even better ventilation in the store. We will provide young people currently working at the store with more training online. We are also going to test limiting entry to 4 customer at a time. From our perspective your safety and the safety of our staff and donors are the first priority. Thank you and take good care! We will pull through this together!

To support the safety of our customers, donors and staff, Uptown Thrift implemented strict measures at the start of the pandemic. In addition to continuing with the items, listed below, we have ordered two additional HEPA filter air purification units at the store as part of our orange stage strategy. We now have five units in total. Each unit covers 500 square feet. 1.Enhanced cleaning procedures which include increasing the frequency of cleaning commonly touched surfaces. ...The cleaning lists will be posted throughout the store so that customers will be able to see when the area was last disinfected. Shopping carts will be disinfected after every use. 2. Easy to understand social distancing plan inside and outside the store 3. Continue to steam all clothing and linens (normal practice) or wash them before placing them on the floor. (Uptown Thrift is one of the very few thrift stores which steam clothing) 4. Provide personal protective equipment for the youth and volunteers who work at the store to help keep everyone safe. 5. Park the Uptown Thrift truck in the back of the store to receive donations which will be quarantined prior to cleaning and handling. 6. All items will continue to be washed with a sanitizing solution 7. Set limits on the number of customers who can shop at the store. 8. Set up hand washing station at the store 9. As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, it might feel a little different this year. We may not be able to gather with extended family and friends but we can still enjoy some of the holiday traditions. There is still time to pick up some needed items and decor at Uptown Thrift!

I am writing to let you know that we are introducing three air purification units at the store as part of our multi-step approach to enhance customer and employee safety at Uptown Thrift. I am sorry we haven't been active on FB lately. It has been an exceptionally busy period at Argus. We are ramping up to launch a new important service.
