I think you’re supposed to do this is black and white. And I think you’re supposed to say #challengeaccepted ... but I’m not one for doing what you’re supposed to do, never have, probably never will. I got a few of those you’re a beautiful woman messages in my inbox but debated posting over the last few days because I truthfully don’t understand this challenge, how it began or where it came from. And while I think it’s beautiful, women supporting women, challenging each oth...er to show off their unique and individual beauty I personally feel, given the landscape of the world, that this challenge is a little superficial. Smoke and mirrors. Just another excuse for more women to post pretty pictures of themselves without really sharing their truth. Does any one else feel like this challenge is covering up what just a few weeks ago people were begging the world to highlight. Race, colour, gender, inequality, injustices... There is so much going on in the world with this global pandemic, doctors being silenced, race wars, colour inequality (its f***ing 2020), gender bias, climate change, economic instability that I’m sorry, a challenge where we as women post pictures and merely say #challengeaccepted is a little superficial no? Why aren’t we posting said picture and telling the world who were are, what were made of, what we want and how we’re getting shit done? Why aren’t we posting pictures of the beautiful women we love and support who’re doing great things for the world (however big or small)? Why aren’t we using our platforms to continue spreading positive messaging for those who may not have a platforms or worse, have had their platforms taken away? If you’re looking for something unbelievably delicious for dinner, that’s in keeping with a cleaner, leaner lifestyle that won’t take a hour to make, you wanna make these fajita bowls! First off, they can easily be made #vegan - omit the chicken and boom, vegan. Oh and they’re #glutenfree ... had to sneak that in.... So there’s no real recipe just a little method to my madness... Start with a quinoa base because it’s protein packed, gluten free and creates a good texture for layering. Start layering. I love all the stuff so I went with bbq grilled chicken, homemade guac, fresh heirloom tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, refried black beans with chillis (for me only) and fajita style sautéed peppers and onions. Additional ingredients that would make this bomb - black beans and corn, cilantro, hot sauce, cheese, salsa shrimp or flank steak. After more than four months of no school, no summer camp, no friends, no sports, no activities Jackson finally gets to do something just for him. He was so excited to go to @pedalheads to play with his friends on his bike. Jackson hasn’t wanted to learn how to ride a bike...until now. He’s very resistant - doesn’t care who wants him to do something or to impress anyone with his skills - follows the beat of his own drum (much like his mama and his daddy - god help him lol). ...Now I know this is only day one, but I have to tell you, this poor little guy has had everything taken away from him because of this pandemic - much like every other child here in Ontario. So when people want to ask aren’t you worried he’ll get sick, of course I am, but I’m also worried about his spirit, soul, development and happiness so we did everything possible to ensure he would be safe.
